I don't live in a cold climate, but relative to the other cars I own; 6.0 GM v8, 3.3 Kia v6, and 2.0 GM ecotech and formerly owned 2.0 Hyundai Nu... The 2.3 Ecoboost takes forever to hit the dummy gauges mid way point. I saw it with my loaner as well in the 2.3t explorer. Not exactly a complaint but has anyone else, especially in colder climates, noticed this?

Easy to solve with the remote start on the few days it is cold here. Just seems... Odd? Or at least sort of shit for those that live in snow during the winter.

You think the 2.3 takes forever to warm up? You should see my wife’s 2.0 Tucson. I’ve never seen a car take as long to warm up as long as hers. I’d say it easily takes twice as long to warm up as my Ranger

Weird is that has the same motor as the car I traded in; unless it's the 140hp version that gets a bit better mpg. Mine was the 162hp pre change version and it took no time to get to temp.

I had an Escape with the 2.0eb and it also took a long time to warm up too. Maybe it's a turbocharged thing?

Lol I dont have to worry about this thanks to remote start. Even then it still warms up fairly quick. I can't remember the exact distance but modern vehicles are supposed to warm up fairly quick within a certain mileage. I just cant remember.

I live where it gets pretty cold. -40C through portions of winter, -20’s is more common. Don’t really have an issue. Remote start and go out after 5-10 minutes. I do plug in the block heater if it is colder than -30C.

Pretty sure if it was out of normal range I would get a check engine light. The time to warm is the highly scientific ... When is it "warm" on the way to the gym in the morning. I'm there with the Ranger before it's gauge shows it. Other options I have are warm long before that point.

That and the heater finally "kicks in" around the time the gauge is in the middle.

Yes I know it's just one step above an overheat light. Only my GMs have specific temp gauges.

It doesn't get all that cold here either and mine takes a while to warm up. There are some winter nights in the mid 30's but my garage is still around 65. I noticed my new Jeep (also a turbo) takes a while to warm up too.

usually let mine warm up 5 min or so before heading out on cold days. Noticed it gets up to temp within a few minutes once driving down the road except for 2 occasions it took 3 times longer to reach temp under the exact same conditions and same routine... Kinda odd

Mechanical fan, vs electric. Virtually always pulling air accross the radiator. Also there's a heat exchanger for coolant/ATF to bring the trans up to temp faster.

For such a small displacement motor it does take a while to warm up.

Didn't even notice it was mechanical. Last... 10.. rides ? Have run electric fans. Add that to the trans heater (didn't know about that) and it makes sense.
