My Sirius audio went out randomly about a week ago but came back next start. Then A couple days later I noticed that the traffic on my map wasn’t displaying. I pushed the travel link button and almost all the buttons that were there for traffic, weather, movies, fuel prices etc were missing and were little circle icons now.
I then looked at my Sirius subscription page and the only one that was green and available was audio, all the rest of the options were red and said “unavailable “. I called Sirius and they said that it was all good on their end and all subscribed. Said they sent a refresh but that did nothing. Started thinking this was a Ford issue at this point so I did a master re-set of sync and everything came back as it should be. Until next start of the vehicle and it all went away again…
Took to dealer and they of course did a master reset ( I told the, I did that three times and it’s a temporary fix) and they said all good. Of course when I get down there and start it, same problem. I showed advisor and he tried to go back to tech and show him and he was gone. I am going down tomorrow again for him to show the tech and have him hook it up to get some numbers off he head unit to order a new one as it sounds like a hardware issue. Crossing my fingers that will solve it.

My understanding is that it's a known issue with the 21220 build of Sync. I'm having the same problem with intermittent XM traffic and other services. Hopefully a new release isn't too far off.

Yep, dealer called and said they are calling ford about this issue and seeing what needs to be replaced to correct this issue. If any progress I will post. It's a crap shoot every time I start my truck to see what is working!

Yes, please keep us posted on what Ford says and/or does about this issue. As @Opusnbill7 said, a number of us are having problems with Sirius after updating to 21220.

Dealer called and said that they spoke to Ford tech line and they want me to bring my truck in and they will need it for a few days. Dropped it off tomorrow morning, we will see.

Ok, dealer had it for most of day and called for me to come down. Said tech was on phone with both Sirius and Ford tech line and both were saying all was good on their end…. Tech said he even had truck hooked up so tech line could see what was going on in real time. Basically both sides pointing fingers and Ford said they weren’t going to authorize a new APIM which the tech thinks Is the issue. I guess the APIM (accessory protocol interface module) controls all the “non Ford” applications and integrates them with the Oem sorfware from what he said. When he pulled up truck to advisor and showed Him that he couldn’t even access Sirius audio on the touch screen but fm worked fine the advisor said screw it and ordered a new APIM unit. I a, waiting for it to arrive and then will have it installed and see what happens.

I am really pleased to hear the dealer is working with you on this issue. I must say though I don't believe a new APIM unit will fix the problem; I think it is the latest Ford software update. Too many of us are having the same problem and all of our APIMs can't be bad (can they?).

Please continue to keep us informed. Good Luck.

Ford will not admit their update is at fault, with enough owners complaining they will just quietly roll out another update (OTA without fan fair) to fix it, never admitting there was an issue in the first place. They don't want to give other companies PR dept's ammunition.

Update was fine for me on my ‘19 (with Nav if that can be a data point). Been still listening to Sirius since.

I did see a TSB out there (here maybe?) that they would put your version to 21020 with a USB stick. Really sounds like those getting Over The Air (OTA) updates are having issues?

Edit to add: I did my updates with a USB stick.

Wish that was the case, but I did mine with a USB stick and am still having issues. It's just a buggy release.

So far I am not having any issues (knock, knock) and I did OTA update, but also have NAV.

Not a hardware issue. I went to cyanlabs and read threads there about this issue and the fix was to revert back to previous sync 3 build 3.4.20351. Downloaded just the apps part of the previous version leaving maps and gracenote alone as they were working fine. Plugged in the thumb drive into the truck and about 15 minutes later it said complete and restart truck to complete update. And all the Sirius travel link apps and traffic overlay are back! You have to disable auto updates or it will automatically go back to crap again. Build now says 3.4.20351 in the version screen so I know that is what fixed it. Will wait until there is a confirmed new update that fixes the problems of 3.4.21020 and then turn back on auto update again. Need to cancel dealer appt to replace APIM as it obviously is not the problem. No need for them to tear apart my truck now.

I just reverted back to 3.4.20351 and got Travel Link back and overlay. Spent all day on the phone with Sirius yesterday and got nowhere. So frustrating. Took a couple key cycles. Come on Ford you can do better.

Thanks for the information.

This Sirius issue is making me mental and I can only find the current version of Sync.

Where do you get the older version of Sync?

My Sirius audio seems to always work, but the Travel Link is a real crapshoot if the features will come on.

So, for grins, I did a chat with Sync support to see if they considered this a known issue. The only thing I got from them was standard Sirius troubleshooting.

I advised them that the only thing that seems to fix the issue is rolling back to a previous version. They created an escation case for me so we’ll see what happens.

@UofMEngineer do you have any info you can share on this?
