Could be a numbers game. They find the area where they sell the best and claim they are #1. Unless any manufacturer provides nationwide sales numbers then take them with a rain of salt.

I think GM trucks combined outsold the F-Series, but the F-Series definitely was the #1 sold truck in 2022

I think the issue for Ford is that GM is currently gaining market share in the segment and F-Series has lost market share. How much if that was due to supply? My guess is a lot. While shopping for my Ranger, could have walked in any of my local Chevy dealers and go home with a Colorado, but I couldn’t even find a new Ranger to test drive. I know it’s not Apples to Apples, but it may be part of the reason.

I see a ton of Silverados on the road around me. They definitely seem to be selling well.
Same here. About a week ago my brother and I had a conversation about how many we were seeing and joked that the F150 may lose king of the hill status soon. Ford has had a heck of a run in the truck market.

I am not 100% sure, but I think their commercial states their pick up is the best selling among "consumers".....I'm thinking they are not considering "fleet" sales as consumers.
If you consider fleet sales as an overall total, Ford would still be #1.

I think that was it. I was in half a daze after driving the mess that is ice sheet I94 last night. we counted 28 cars in the ditch with 1 on its lid and they all had people with them

The company I worked for, before retiring , tried to update their fleet in 2020 and 2021 and most of 2022 . They do it by rotating trucks in and out of service as they age or by mileage such as 3years of service or 90,000 miles. Then the bigger trucks, F250,F350,F450,and F550's are phased out of service when the maintenance cost start going up because of age or hours and or mileage.
For 3 years , Ford told us there weren't any trucks or SUV's availiable. Nationwide , it was a small number of vehicles that we would need every year , maybe 1000, 1500 , but in 2022 we needed around 3500 and had to look elsewhere . Once they go to another manufacturer they wont be likely to go back to Ford .
