Tom, do those level the truck?
Me? No, it's still has it's butt in the air :) I added a step on the back so this old man can get into the bed easier.

Why the Toy Yoda jokes. They are popular and a lot of the over land content creators drive them for a reason??? This truck was cheaper monthly payments so I got this instead. More upgrades.:)
For me, personally, I had a Toyota truck a long time ago. Extended cab 4x4. It was a great truck and I used it for camping and other truck stuff. It was my 2nd vehicle for 25 years, then started to rust so I sold it while the time was right. People were fighting over it when I listed it.

I think the new ones sell so well, because, well, they've been the top dog for 3 decades, so a lot of people keep buying them because they're the top seller. ;) Ford could sell a lot more rangers if they'd build them, but that's an argument for another thread.

Interesting comments. I feel like I’m getting shade from a lot of you, which is upsetting. I was just trying to get information.
To the guy with the Yoda meme, do the Toyota parts fit? If so, which ones?
Tom, do those level the truck?
If your referring to me....I have no idea if a Yota part would fit on my FORD RANGER !!!!!!
I would not even think about committing such a travesty to my FORD !!! That would be the equivalent of putting a......damn, can't think of anything worse !!!!!
As far as Yoda.....he is in the process of trying to change his name as it resembles "Yota", and is very embarrassing to him !!! He keeps getting calls and text's about "Toyota" problems and complaints.

Yoda, however, wants to know if loading your Ford Ranger bed with Toyota parts, and taking them to the dump, counts as "putting Toyota parts on your Ranger" ????

Stic-o. Any other info on this?
Ctech. He seems to know what he is doing by his experience.
I’m still confused Yoda guy? Thank you for trying to help though

I can't think of a new first name but he does have a catchy last name which I'd keep. ??

You are getting shade because you’re considering used Toyota OEM parts and expecting them to be an upgrade. If they fit (which they almost certainly won’t), they’d only perform as well as anyone else’s used OEM parts. Not an upgrade. Toyotas aren’t “all that” - even new Toyota OEM parts wouldn’t be an upgrade.

Even if you find a great deal on used Eibachs or Bilsteins, they’ve very likely been taken off because they’ve hit their end of life - definitely not an upgrade.

You’re also getting scorched because of your budget. A suspension upgrade that includes levelling coilover front shocks and rear shocks is easily a grand and that’s without upgrading the leaf springs or having a shop do the work. It’s simply unrealistic to consider doing this for $200-$300 and have it be a performance upgrade.

So, the recurring advice you’re seeing is solid - increase your budget and look for some quality aftermarket tuned suspension goodies designed specifically for your Ranger.

To add too what everyone else has said.....
I can say, with almost 100% certainty, that a 1982 Toyota body will NOT fit on a 2023 Ford Ranger chassis (without a LOT of modification) !!!!

My old FX4 rear shocks, that I replaced when new, hung around in my garage for a while. They finally caught my eye one day... I stared at them for 5 seconds, then walked over and chucked them in the dumpster.

Good move, used OEM would be even worse than used aftermarket.

I kept mine but only so I have something to swap in while I have my FOX 2.0s serviced. Otherwise, they’d be in a dumpster.

Chris, I was just reading the bump stop thing. They seem to work for him. I will try to message him for info. I looked up the part and it is fairly cheap and he said a good upgrade. I would like to get a good upgrade package, but I do not have the money. I just got a part time job as a server, so that’s why I bought the truck. It was a big upgrade over my Taurus. I want to spend the other time over landing and creating content. Hopefully that takes over, then I can get the full package that the other members recommend.

I'm a massive Toyota fan, but that's because of the 1972 FJ40 I have driven since 1976. I passed it on to my daughter last year as she wants to restore it.

Now,imo, that's a 4X4.

But I'd never try fit things from itonto another car. Maybe some things like the PTO winch, which was made for anything (but no PTO on Rangers soo ...).

I'd be most concerned about the specs of inter-vehicle stuff.

In a shock, I suppose it could be the length of the travel and the dampening rate (not sure what that's called, rebound?). Certainly the geometry of a Taco and a FFR differ. While a part maybe be similar, it was likely made for one vehicle.

I'm sure there are some universal things (LOL, like my suicide knob) that can go on either. =D

But ... you know ... it's your Ranger. Do what you like and you might end up with something others envy.

Many comments here, for all posters, are based in safety concerns, Sure, it gets really vocal when someone thinks you could be foolish. But I like that ... it means people care enough to speak up. They may express it in a way that could be hurtful, like:

"Who the hell stores a chain on the front end of a Ranger?"

And after I ran out of Kleenex, I had to smile. =p

Seriously, it's a good bunch but for sure, it's a Ranger-loyal bunch. Maybe to a fault, but we love our Rangers.

I say give what you're thinking a go. Post pics and prove us wrong.

Mostly, enjoy your Ranger any way you like, and as long as you have a damper and use 303, you'll be well loved.

“You like me! You really like me!” =D

Good luck! =)

My '19 Ranger started acting up one day mostly the transmission. It always seemed to buck and surge and never seems to know what gear it wants to be in. It was slow and very underpowered and I was just about to take it back to the dealer.

? Then I thought about it and remembered I put my "16 Tacoma mat in the bed! Once removed all was well again and my Ranger was happy! Lesson learned, NEVER use Toyota parts/accessories in you Ranger. ?

Sometimes being Polish has its drawbacks. ?

Seems like a common issue for these rangers. been reading. Is this a good fix? I don’t think mine has a mat in the bed though. I have not had this issue yet but it would not be bad to take care of it now if it’s just my removing a Toyota part. Thank you

Well I'll sheepishly admit that it took me 5 yrs to replace the OEM FX4 rear shocks, the catalyst was when I started towing. Was skeptical about people saying the oem shocks are not good but no longer, those oem shocks are way too soft. And yes mine are sitting on the garage floor but they'll get chucked soon. Bought and installed Bilstein 4600 for $84 ea.

Ctech. He seems to know what he is doing by his experience.
You're just trolling with that comment.

His 'experience' is that supposedly he works at a shop. That doesn't instantly mean that he knows what he's talking about. In this case, he doesn't.
