Not exactly the language used. The word “could” does not mean “not allowed”.Ford says only their seat covers are allowed:
I merged this so you can see the past posts on this.I am thinking of getting front and back seat covers for my upcoming 2023 Ranger. However, I am concerned they will interfere with the air bag deployment. Is this a thing? Should I be concerned with negating an important safety feature? Recommendations?
I am not a fan of seat covers in general, but do like having some protection available for mud and mess when off-roading. These Aries covers are perfect. I leave them attached to my headrests, but normally flipped over the back and hang behind the seat. When needed it only takes a few seconds to flip them forward and into place, stretch them over the shoulder section on the seats and voila. It's ~3 seconds to have them in place, and completely out of the way the rest of the time.I wanted seat protection meeting these requirements:
- Allows side airbag deployment
- Simple and fast on/off
- No attachments or straps
- Waterproof
- Washable
- Not moving around every time we get in/out
I bought Aries Seat Defenders from RealTruck. Couldn't decide between Black, Brown, or Grey. Got Camo and love it. Brown might look good with Stone interior.
These hang over the headrest and do not slide around or require repositioning after sliding in and out. They are easier to slide across than the leather seats. Originally planned to put them on as needed. Like them so well, they stay in our Ranger unless we need them in our Santa Fe which they fit equally as well. Great design for our needs.

RealTruck often has these on sale.
I use Wet Okole, expensive ($400), but customizable (as in the teal color helped Kate like my truck better).Does anyone know of good seat covers that are airbag-safe?
That is, seat covers that don't interfere with the front seats' side airbags deploying.
I'm looking to cover my cloth seats, only to keep the cloth clean.
If there's a seat-bottom-only cover, that'd be better
I haven't been able to find a good one on amazon though.
Ah, the marketing manual, (cough), I mean the owner's manual strikes again.Ford says only their seat covers are allowed:
