In Texas as well and I went with LLumar Air80 for the windshield and its practically clear and I can't tell there is anything on the windshield. I think there is a Air90 as well but I think that may have a little hint of blue coloring.

No inspections where I live, and tint violations are rarely enforced unless it’s super dark. 35% Is technically the darkest you can go if you have tint on all windows.

I have a neighbor down the street who would tint his front windows on his M3 every two years just after inspection. He stopped doing that after he finally got multiple tickets. Cops used the tint as an excuse to pull him over and then cited him for multiple emissions related mods.

I couldn't help but laugh when he told me the story, I felt bad because he is a nice guy that always idled down the neighborhood to not piss people off with his loud exhaust, but I still laughed. They yanked his plates, towed for further inspection since it was unsafe to inspect along the freeway. Nailed him for tint, illegal cat, multiple emissions components missing, non carb compliant air intake, etc. He had to tow his vehicle from shop to shop to have repairs then back for inspection to get new plates. All in he paid for towing, tickets, inspection, storage, repairs (exhaust was welded), and parts.

They used tint as the excuse to start the process but he claimed he was speeding and the officer didn't get him on radar before he slowed down. Officer was probably hell bent on getting him for something, because he raked him over the coals. Officer started the conversation with "I noticed your tint looks too dark....and your exhaust seems a bit too loud".

Needless to say his M3 is stock now and fully legal on tint.

Uh, are working windows required to pass inspection?

Is there a state law that windows have to go up anD down? if so all those soft top soft window wranglers would fail so would all the Shelby replica cars. I had mine done at the state legal limit but I have CSS....can't see $h!t so I didn't want them DARK.

Every state will be different. Arizona you must have functional windows if your vehicle was equipped with them. Soft top windows are functional, just manual in nature.

Dark tint can be legal as most states have provisions for those with photosensitive eyes and have a prescription from their physician.

I would think for the most part officers aren't gonna pull you over for dark tint unless they have another reason to pull you over and just need cause to do so, or your windows are so dark and the officer has nothing better to do.

Flip side is if you get in an accident or hit someone with dark tint, that just opens the door for you being at fault due to impairment.

Ontario, Canada vehicles newer than 2017 are not allowed to have front windows with darker than 70%, so I added 15% over the factory tint lol. They are very dark, close to limo tint.

There are no restrictions on the rear, so on the rear sides, I added 5% over the factory tint. Even with the door open, on a sunny day, you can barely see through.

The rear window, I added fully opaque vinyl car wrap to the outside, and cut out for the slider window. The slider just has factory tint, so my rear view mirror is perfectly functional.

My tint is legal level but not worth spending money for it's so light...how are people getting away with much heavier/darker tint?
