Hmmm, joined a Ranger forum yesterday only to post a TLTR rant about an issue with a completely unrelated vehicle. I wasn’t thinking RP but with all the mentions about money, it sure got me thinking SHEEPDOG.

I continue to be amazed that people are actually buying these EV's, especially the trucks. There is no possible way to ever break even on any kind of savings, and the battery technology is not even close. The manufacturers are charging people ridiculous prices to be Guinea pigs on unproven products.
Tesla sold over 420k vehicles in Q1 and they are profitable but they make what most consider cars at this point. The cyber truck when it happens maybe another story.

It's almost like there is more to the story and someone is just butt hurt.

I mean, a 1700 a month payment doesn't go out and you don't realize it.

You're either Jeff bezos son, or just suck at personal finances if you don't realize that. Sorry, but wtf.

I can’t imagine such a scenario. I thought my Ranger cost too much ($44,000), I will never pay that much again. Probably will never own new again.
I'm guessing you also monitor if your payments go out or not too.

I mean, there are 3 teslas at work, they bought them 5+ years ago, and they charge for free at work, and rarely charge at home.
We just put the kibosh on the blue haired that thought it was cool to charge her Leaf on the company dime.

Wondering if your employer pays for people's gas too?

It’s paid off, but yes, we paid them in person. We don’t have anything automatically taken out of our bank accounts.

Interestingly enough, they provide a monthly vehicle allowance.

I get one. It fills my truck up 1.75 times.

I fill my truck twice a week.

Not getting into fairness or not, as they provide these folks a vehicle allowance and a place to charge for free.

I ask every opportunity I can when I'm going to get a gas pump card since they get to commute for free (essentially).

For a commuter, hybrid makes sense for me.
But, does it make sense to own one car to commute in and a second car for everything else? Purely from a cost perspective, that scenario probably never makes sense.

Which is exactly why we stopped that shit real quick. Last thing I need is a bunch of drivers with access to company fuel cards/systems feeling like the company owes them something.

Didn't hurt that she's a shitty employee.

Why not?

When Tesla first started selling cars, they were affordable and could get me back and forth to work for a week on a single charge.

Here is an example. You live outside a metro area and commute into the city daily, but you also want to be able to go offroad on the weekends. Having a electric or small hybrid makes sense. If the costs come down enough.

In my case, my partner works from home, she only drives to pick the kid up from school 2 miles away. She could drive my truck, to do that, and I could drive a hybrid/electric to work.

Electric vehicles have a place, they aren't going to be a solve everything solution.

In our case the tesla owners are managers and superintendents.... They had the charging stations installed when they bought the vehicles...

Also doesn't hurt that our director adores them.

Shrug, when I leave I'll be making a few FOIA requests for information that should be made public as it is a municipality... ?

That interest payment amount is more than many mortgages...
^DIdn't think of it that way, as at time of purchase (Aug 2022) Lightning & Rivian were the only EV trucks available in my area (SoCal) as much as I wanted the Ram EV or Silverado EV instead!

But yeah, come to think of it, I could have put that 30K down on a 2nd (ie vacay or rental) house and have similar monthly mortgage but then what would I drive for work trying to be as eco friendly as possible =/

Anyways, sorry guys and gals for submitting a rant about F150 Lightning on a Ranger forum but its just one single thread; if allowed here I won't talk about other Ford models at your lovely forum except in this thread...promise! Just wanted insight as when I googled to find out about the Self-Repo symptoms I experienced, this and F150forum were among the 1st results talking about some patent pending..

Cheerz all; happy Ranging!
