Should I be concerned? Only 1000mi in California.

Front two wheels only.

Naww I’m on the other coast and got the same thing. My CV axels are all rusted already too. It’s not going to hurt anything but I’m treating mine when it warms up to slow it down though. But I do get your point. It’s a heck of a lot sooner than I thought as well.

Yes. I would be concerned. That looks like it’s made from cast iron and there is a nut/bolt going through there that is filled with rust; so corrosion between dissimilar metals is happening. This isn’t even a part that should be iron. Mine is aluminum. Maybe yours was wrecked and they replaced parts with something they got from eBay.

In 2020 they switched to steel from aluminum. Mine look the same. Doesn't look pretty but it's not gonna fall apart.

Edit: My mistake. Cast iron, not steel.

This is a quote from the Ford website about the Tremor package.

“Tremor starts with a lifted suspension, redesigned front knuckles and 32-inch Continental General Grabber™ A/TX all-terrain tires on new 17-inch Magnetic-painted wheels that combine to deliver 9.7 inches of ground clearance – 0.8 inches more than the base Ranger SuperCrew 4x4.”

Redesigned front knuckles? Do you have a Tremor package? Is this what they are trying to pass off as an improvement?

In the first photograph there is a nut visible that is surrounded by rust. The nut and the cast iron are different kinds of metals. It is also recessed in such a way that moisture will stick in there. That is going to be a problem.

Great... now I feel like I made a $35,000 mistake. I’m going to contact the dealership and see what options they give me.

My concern would be where that bolt/nut goes through. The other rust is superficial and that part is thick, so it would be a long time before it becomes a concern. I would have them remove and inspect that nut. If the corrosion goes into the threads it will get bad quickly.

As long as the nut and bolt isn’t aluminum you won’t get much in the way of galvanic corrosion. Such corrosion is minimal if any between ferrous metals. There’s a scale that welders use to determine what can stick to what. Else all cars in Michigan would be one solid chunk in 3 months time. Your rust looks normal for exposed cast iron and won’t progress to be structurally harmful in your or my lifetime.

Some of you people should try living in the rust belt ???
I'm in New England, the welds on my truck have some corrosion showing which I'm sad about but it's cosmetic. I also have to drive in the winter so it's unavoidable. Better than previous trucks where the frame rails rotted completely off.
