What’s a good running board , don’t want any that hang down too low ? Are frame mounted better than the rocker mount ?

I’ll let others chime in on brand name choices (mine are quite low) but if you’re using them to enter and exit the truck, the threaded factory mounting points in the rockers are more than strong enough and most running boards are designed to use those mounting points - no need to frame mount.

If you are looking for true rock sliders to protect your rocker panels and doors while off-roading, frame-mounted rock sliders are the way to go.

If you’re in an area that uses a lot of road salt and sand in the winter, be prepared to remove and refurbish them.

I've got a new set of running boards but no mounting brackets. You could have them for shipping + $10.

I was going to replace my running boards but I never bought the brackets for the job. I like how these are designed to fit high & tight. I don't like mine because of the big see-thru gap.

Duke more or less nailed it. If you are staying on the street, just go to the local Ford Dealer and order a set. If you are like many of us here and travel OffRoad, then you will want to get Chassis Mounted Rock Sliders. Besides acting like a step to get in and out, they protect the vehicle in those right clearance areas.

With exhibit A you can see my running board that got damaged on the trail(it happened the morning of this picture)

Exhibit B shows some Rock Sliders that have yet to be put to the test, but help me access the roof of my vehicle.

I've been considering the electric retractable steps for both my 2019 Rangers. Some act as rock sliders when tucked up. All parts are replaceable if damaged severely.

I have the frame mounted Go Rhino RB20 running boards. They tuck up close to the rocker panels.

Some folks here have the AMP power steps and like them once the get them all dialed in.

I dont know that I'd want anything that moves like that to act as a slider, though. I can see it getting banged once and then being unusable.

I often toy with the idea of taking mine off (factory ones) and lighting them up with some led's or something but so far its just been another unsuccessful voice in my head...

I have the same ones, but they're not frame mounted, they're mounted to the cab.

I removed my Tremor running boards. Didn't really care for them. Now in the extra parts pile.
