Yes I cut it open to find the spring loaded gate. I ended up doing the muffler delete. I don't know if it helped the performance but i like the sound.

Do you remember where the spring gate was located in the muffler. On the outlet pipe somewhere? I would like to attempt to eliminate it, knowing the location would help me make it a less invasive surgery lol!

I measured my jack handle and it's only 30" so I think my muffler will continue on unbashed.....for now. Tools are everything I've heard it said.

I just went out on lunch and whacked it off with a 5' piece of wood. So far I've not noticed any difference in procedure with the longer tool.

However, I did notice an ever so subtle change in idle tone with the washer knocked out. I'm just happy I was able to get the muffler free with how crusty all those captive exhaust hanger bolts are in the frame. #PureMichigan

Knocked mine out as eventually I’ll go cat back. There was no change in sound or performance.

my .02 is just leave it alone.

oh and now when I accelerate I can hear it slide around in the muffler because I couldn’t fish it out. Yay.
