I went down in a blaze of glory trying to install my fitzstick. I was able to access the transimission cap without jacking up the truck (tremor). As everyone says there isn't a whole lot of room when coming from underneath and i could not manage to budge the cap loose with my shortened box end wrench. So I got my 2ft 3/8 socket extension, put universal on it and then the socket to get it loosed up top from the engine bay. I couldn't budge the thing, putting all i had into trying to break it loose. I didn't attempt to put a cheater pipe on it, afraid I'd break the cap. I will need to get a longer extension if I want to try an impact. Anyone else have a hard time getting the cap removed?

BTW, truck is newish 2023 with 7500 miles so its not all corroded. Its like they installed the cap with red locktite.

Mine was very tight, would not budge from below, just no room to get the leverage. You could try the hammer taps if you can fit it all up there it's pretty tight from underneath.

The right way, IMO, is from above with two 1/2 drive 12" extensions and a universal swivel right above the socket. Slips right on, plenty of leverage to pop it loose, easy access and you can see what you're doing.

I believe I have posted this trick before, but just a refresher and this works as I have used it multiple times in my career.
If I recall correctly, I used this method on my initial removal of the OE dipstick when checking fluid level just after purchase.
So, for my Fitzstick install it was already snug vs tight

Sorry not a Ranger but relevant on how to set up the wrenches - via Google Search
You can also flip the wrenches and use the other side of the combo, but I prefer the boxed end when dealing with an extra tight fastener and needing a cheater extension.
I have a few Cheater Bars Old Pipe and Old 3-Cell Maglite as well but when limited space this works.

Look what I got yesterday. Now all I need is something warmer then 15 degrees and to get rid of this cold that I got last week and I might be good to go. Mike, your attention to detail is outstanding. The quality of the product, the instructions and packaging are stellar. If no one knew you did these by yourself, one would think this was a large company. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Hey, first batch dipstick owners,

I have been trying to slowly hit up all the first batch group, if anyone wants a updated stick with the laser etch vs the electro etch, the difference is, it is clearer and darker/deeper, so it's easier to read the fluid level.

Let me know if you are interested, send me a message and include your address.

I will need your serial number, it's on the underside of the steel portion of the stick by the handle.

This is for serial numbers up to #60, with the exceptions of #38, 40, 45, 51, 53, 54. There is question about #55, whoever has that, I missed it in my build log, it should have the older stick, message me and we can figure it out.

I have a break in production, so this is a good time to get caught up with the updates.

Thanks everyone, let me know!!
Mike,
Send me a new dipstick when you get a chance. Mine is number 36. Just bill me at my paypal to let me know how much I owe you.

For all you "first series" purchasers, Mike's new version with the etched markings is a nice improvement over the original....much easier to read the fluid level. The markings really stand out.
Got mine a few weeks ago, and has with the original, the new stick is just another great piece of workmanship.
Really, nothing wrong with the "original", but this just makes it better.

Got mine installed this afternoon. Took less than an hour due to the fit being so nice. After reading about the old stick being so tight I was concerned, but mine popped right away with a breaker bar from above. Cold reading was 2.5 and matched exactly with the new stick. After a short drive to check for leaks it was at 5.5. Have to do a long drive this week to get an accurate reading. Could not be happier with the quality and fit.
