Worth mentioning? Need to verify your transmission fluid level ahead of installation.
Shouldn't...he has it marked same as original...

I would like to see where this mounts in relationship to transmission internals. Only way you’re going to know is dropping the pan.

As he has it setup, the relationship is identical ...the plexi plate represents the entry into the pan...

I see that but factory is a hard plastic piece that plugs into a counterbore in the transmission casing and the rest of the plastic gets buried in the aluminum threaded cap. That keeps the tail of the stick from wandering around the internals of the transmission. Just a piece of sheet metal unsupported could be potentially problematic.

These two comments are surprising, up until Ford deleted them they were in every trans, age old proven design, I just copied it.

Also, in doing the final fitment check, this picture is not correct.

The dipstick does not go all the way in the cap, I was suspicious of this and needed to verify exactly the transfer marks, so I did a fit with clay, it's .080 deeper in the trans when seated like you would have while checking fluid level, this how you would do a side by side marking check with the stick pulled out .080

Sorry man it’s the engineer in me. Question everything so it doesn’t come back and bit you in the ass. As far as I know since this transmission was introduced with no dipstick and so far none have come from the factory with it. Cost savings, most likely but that’s not enough. Before I did anything on my own as I shared in the beginning of this thread the one thing I would want to be sure of is there is plenty of room, close isn’t good enough!

All moving parts are way above and to the left of the dipstick. Nothing can touch it except fluid.

After 20 years in the racing industry, you learn to question everything, test everything and even then you can get surprised with a unexpected problem, I've tried to cover every possible problem on this project.

But really, it's pretty straight forward, I've plumbed so many racecars, from stock cars to prototypes, you just keep the lines secure, away from heat, sharp edges and moving parts, without excessive bends.

The only issue would be - if you need to warranty (work) transmission- with Ford fighting everything they can to not do anything for the consumer. You better remove the dipstick mod - or I’m quite sure they will attempt in every way possible to deny warranty.
Other than that - great work.
And I’m still in

I'm with you on that. I was planning on doing the B&M and the deep pan upgrade. Now with this I haven't ordered it yet. Want to do the dipstick first and then the pan, just to verify levels.

I am super tempted on this and the question applies to the stupid expensive option as well.

Did they cut the tube and stick off to save money or will having a tube or whatever allow fluid to go up it? Creating a problem. I'm probably thinking something like windage causing it that shouldn't be an issue with a trans that doesnt rely on splash... at all...... However... any chance that might cause an issue? Feel free to say "no dipshit" and move on if you actually know how the trans works. Weirdly worried about allowing fluid up a tube/pipe/hose/etc vs the stock dipstick nub that caps right by the case....

I've also had a few mid strength beers so my logic is probably three sorts of no right now.

In reality id love to see the level, fluid color, easy top off, and when I get around to a spill and fill.. adding the metal pan with a drain (around 50k miles). So... I'll be in line to buy this when ready. Not a hater or skeptic.

Also, maybe get a list of those willing to throw real money at this once you are done with testing. If you do.... add me to the list. Especially if you include some sort of how to not be a dumbass instructions.

I purchased an extended warranty and can't imagine how this might void it - hell, it could save the transmission and Ford the expense of replacing it.

I'm planning a transmission fluid change out around 75,000 miles and am contemplating the deeper pan.

I don't know if there are any potential negatives as it relates to getting the fluid up to temp but again see the need to check fluid levels as even more critical.
