So today two months ago, I gave the hose shop the final dimension and told them to proceed with production of the 60 hoses.

A month ago I got half of that order, I am still waiting for the second half, out of frustration I started hunting down an affordable hose crimper, I searched most everyday, finally it came up, like new only $3k, it's just like the one I used for years at Honda. Now I am waiting on my own roll of hose and fittings ?

What's funny I had been searching using: hydraulic hose crimper, hose crimping machine, hose crimper those basic searches, the same old wore out junk or the overpriced stuff everyday, ebay, Craigslist, FB market place, equipment houses.

I decided to try "Dayco" bam, there it was, it had been there all along, just no mention of "crimper" in the title, I about s#!t my pants, I found it on Craigslist, committed to buy it before I saw it, I had to drive over 3 hours to get it but damn, so worth it, it's like Christmas, I even splurged on a Harbor Freight cabinet for it?

So now, no more being stuck, waiting on somebody else to get to my order done, plus I can control the length now.

Now I just need a saw, if anybody knows of Curtis Toledo hydraulic hose saw for sale, my budget is $1000-$1200 shipped, maybe more, but new is $1900-$2100, so I may end up there.

I think he says lowest price on eBay $1498 (as of 21 days ago... there are 4 on there now for 1050 to 1299 ) just as a comparison... think (hope'n) he just wants to get rid of it. I emailed him to find out.

(PS: LOL... of the 4 on eBay, 3 are from India... so, onk there is only 1)

WOW... I called the guy (Larry) and he says it's $200! He will ship... (not sure where your located Mike)... Will PM you with his phone number... you can text or call. He did not answer my Minnesota area code figuring it was a scam, but left a message and he called right back. He says it's good working unit. Good Luck.

Holy crap, that's legit, $200, nicest guy, he is going to look at shipping and get back to me, this is nothing more than outrageously amazing, with it that cheap , I can pay heavy shipping (90 lbs and 350 miles away)and still have enough left over to buy one of those trick $250 clean cut blades.

The guy sounds sincere, he was fun to talk to, we talked about my project, the machine, shipping possibilities, I thought this has to be a scam, after talking to him, I highly doubt it.

I tossed the looking for a saw comment out there just hoping, you never know, it's not a terribly common machine, less common than crimpers for sure.

Richard, thank you so very much!

RETIRED!
Yesterday (10-16-23) I took the Ranger to the dealer to have the SYNC 3.4.23188 update done. (Apparently it was a warranty issue because the Ford website kept telling me I had to have the dealer do it and there was no download link on the web page). When I go there, they said the tech had to go to a funeral and asked if I could bring it back today (10-17-23).

Because of that, I got to run it down the interstate for 17 miles each way at 75-80 two days in a row. When I got back home, I parked in the garage (with the engine running & pulled the dipstick.) The fluid level was just a bit above the very bottom of the dipstick. So I added 1/4 qt. Did the same trip again today and the lever was still below the 4/5 mark so I added another 1/4 qt. I am calling it good for now.

Okay, it's a $393 gamble, it sure stunk like a scam for a while, but I think he is just a old dude who is not up to speed.

But with Paypal I sent it as goods or merchandise so it's guaranteed.

The hose cutter is the last big piece of equipment I need, I sure hope it works out.

Thanks for the help!

I am taking a nice long day trip that will get the transmission temps to optimal hot range. I am taking a quart of ULV with me in case I need to top off the levels. Thanks again Fitz for making this possible!

It was my handiwork, but the motivation came from here, without it, I would have made the dipstick just for my truck and my sons truck.

So, I thank everyone here for the push down the path!
Mike, we all appreciate your work on this and making a product available to all of us. I hope it continues to be a labor of love for you and that it exceeds your expectations for roi.

Get yourself one of those hand pumps with a hose that screws onto the container. It made adding fluid very easy.
