I had Green/Black but haven’t been able to complete the install because I can’t mount the switch. I did get a blue light when I pushed the button so does that mean it’s working? I haven’t past this to fully check the install.
mine is black/green , I installed redarc controller but couldn’t get power to trailer brake pin on plug, been to local dealer twice, selling dealership today ( 90 miles away) talked to them, taking it back to them on Monday. So far even the dealerships can’t get mine to work. Told them this is on Ford, they need to fix it , I bought the truck to pull my trailer, my local dealership said it seems like my truck was not made to take aftermarket brake controller. Told them it came from factory with tow package. I love my truck, just need to get past this

Looks great, did you check out the spot behind the fuse panel cover above the hood release? I see there's a round hole already stamped in it? It'll be about half way above the hood release and the spot you use to pull open the panel. Could this be the mounting place that will be used by FORD in the future when they finally get the Redarc to install? Could the hole be for the universal Mounting Panel?

About that cover over the fuses. What is the trick to remove it. The molded face seems to indicate a downward pull but mine is really tight. I don’t want to break the dang thing if I pull too hard in the wrong direction. Thanks.

I feel the only thing to fully test it out is to hook up a trailer and test the settings in proportional and manual while driving around some.

yeah, when removing panels the clips are tight. just pry with some more force and it will give.

I had connected another brake controller and still no power to brake pin on trailer plug. I think on my truck the black and green wire is not correct, blue wire runs from trailer plug on back to the front but no one can find it after that. Fuses are there and have power

I noticed that my brake controller didn't power up until I hooked a trailer to it and then the screen recognized that a trailer was connected. I don't know if there's something in the circuit that needs to be completed or triggered but that's when everything worked.

So, with the trailer connected does the control head led light up when you apply the brakes? If so does it apply power to the blue wire from the controller going to your black/green connection? If so, then the connection from the black/green and where ever they changed it to blue in the wire run isn't connected properly.

When I took trailer to lake, my other brake controller was hooked up . It’s not the controller it’s the truck, even local Ford dealership says controller is hooked up right, they don’t know why no power is going to trailer brake pin on plug, they called Ford Corporate , waiting for an answer. When either brake controller was hooked up , when you push or slide manual lever on controller there was power on both sides on the butt connection but no power at brake pin on plug

Alright still can’t get controller to work, Ford not much help, so here is a good question: when I push in redarc button it will pulse blue when let go nothing. Here is something I need someone to answer pushing in button and hold it I put a test light on wire at splice blue wire which connects to black/green stripe my redarc turns green why??

I wish I knew more about these systems.

Do you have a trailer hooked up?

Sitting in my garage I start my Ranger and when I apply the foot pedal brakes nothing happens on the dial. I then push the button and it starts to glow Blue and get brighter and then dim. I know this is the sign it's in Proportional mode. I do also notice it activates my rear brake lights without me touching the pedal which it should do as it's trying to apply the trailer brakes and should light up those lights to warn those behind me.

I don't know what the blue/green sequence is as it's not even on the troubleshooting guide table on page 17&18.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this, surprisingly. But the TPSI-002 insert works perfectly in the Lightforce fascia. It's a lot better than drilling holes in the switch blanks, and if you don't need any other switches, it fills the spot where you needed to order another blank with the fasica.

All I need now is a truck...:crying:

Well from one person's install it was a Green/Black wire and on two of us, it was a Blue wire. I don't know if it has to do with build dates or what. So be looking for either if you do yours.
Mine is also BLUE wire to match the industry standard color for the trailer brake wire.
This change caused me a lot of digging around.

@FX4Offroad and @oggvorbis Is there anyway you can update your threads to mention that the wire is green/white on early builds but solid Blue on later build dates? Would save folks with newer trucks a lot of digging around.

This would help for sure.

Have you been able to test your brake controller to see if it’s working correctly?

Wonder if we could start a thread or poll as to who has a brake controller installed and what brand and if it does actually work
