Before answering, I don't appreciate being made fun of.
I'm not sure why hate replies exists... Why would someone take issue with someone else trying to minimize their own exposure?
It's confusing to read posts like yours: it seems you're saying that since 100% of toxins can't be eliminated, it's not worth trying to reduce at all.
I don't understand that perspective, but I respect others' perspectives, so I'm not going to make fun of yours...:)

"There is literally nowhere in the US where the climate is so smoky for months on end, every year, to warrant your concern."

Yes, there are locations like that. I will withhold my information on a public forum. However, there are MANY places where there is smoke for 6 months of the year, at 150+ AQI for much of it.
This is first, due to wildfires in late summer and fall, then, throughout the winter due to wood burning.
In these cases, for prolonged exposure outside, many people do wear a mask since it's unhealthy. It's a personal choice to do so or not, even though many people are okay with breathing unclean air :)

"If it were as bad as you say driving should be the least of your concerns. You should be more worried about the other 20-22 hours of the day."
It would be nice for you to not rush to judgement, nor try to impose your ideas on what I should be concerned more about, as this thread hasn't mentioned anything about my overall day; the rest of my day doesn't relate to my questions about the Ranger.

"Do you sleep in a SCUBA mask?"
But to humor you  as a way to point out the oddness of your comments, I'll drop a hint that there is magic advanced tech available to the public called an air filter ?...which also happens to be one of the topics of this thread.

Anyway, this post is about our vehicles being leaky and recirc not working. I'd like to keep discussing that part :)
Finding humor in your words does not equal "making fun of you." But I am sorry if YOU took offense.

My questions come from me trying to understand your hyper-vigilant approach to what seems like a simple problem.

If the filtration/sealing in your vehicle is not to your liking, and the environment is so toxic you must wear a mask to travel from your home to your vehicle. Why not just keep your mask on while driving?

Pay no mind. Must be a troll. Noticed he is going to great lengths to criticize other members for simply stating their opinions. Bless his heart

I'm not sure I understand where you're going with this...my post is about finding a solution to an issue with the Ranger, that most other vehicles don't have.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to discussing specific thoughts or solutions if anyone has them :)

Wanted to hop on to say starting sometime relatively recently (this summer?) my truck no longer switches off recirculation mode!

So awesome. Maybe with the earth on fire and smoke everywhere they thought, "Hmmm. Maybe this feature isn't great for everyone after all." :like:

I for one am very happy I don't have to smell the vile stench of Burger King every time I drive by it because I forgot to hit the recirc button. So nice. ?

Awesome :) Wait, did anything change? As far as I know think these vehicles don't have firmware changes, and Sync updates don't include vehicle changes either...

Is A/C on? I've also noticed if A/C is on, the recirc will not turn off. If A/C is off, recric will turn off in 5-15 minutes (can't exactly recall the time).

Dang! AC has been on (I never turn it off in the summer).

I sure hope it doesn't go off with the AC off this winter.

I may just run the AC all winter if it does!

I'll try it without the AC now that it's cooling off here and I can stand to do that.

could be the case for OP, but recirc turns off for me even with AC -- depends on outside temperature.

hmmm, yeah if i have AC on, recirc does not turn off the entire time for me. Only when AC is off does it turn off.

Does the Sync S/W affect HVAC control? I wonder if something change with a Sync release?

On my last trip to Louisiana, I tried using the recirc button. Turned it on and forgot to check it when I stopped for gas. A week ago, I took a little road-trip to Granger Ford (2 hrs away) and tried the recirc again, it stayed on for over an hour.

The only thing I can think of that is different on my truck than most others----my BMS plug is not plugged in and hasn't been for at least the last 6-8 months. Anyone else have theirs unplugged and the recirc stays on ???

When you select recirc it only stays on for five minutes, then shuts off. I’m a big boy now, I don’t need Ford deciding I can only breathe five minutes of air free of the filth of diesels and outside odors.

Must have been designed by someone that’s never actually spent time driving!

Yes, it does this on all modes; AC, heat, Max AC.

Anyone know the Forscan address and value to fix this?!
Hmm mine stays put. Haven't changed anything in Forscan. Are you on automatic? I hate that setting I wanna set it as I need it.

I had my truck’s firmware updated by the dealer (not sure if Sync or BCM) and my recirculate button stays “latched on” forever now. Any ideas if this is a fluke? I could’ve sworn it didn’t do that before….

How long has it been when you say "forever"? Ie when was the FW updated?
I'm imagining they updated sync only, since i've not heard of any other updates to the vehicle, but would be curious if they did anything else. Maybe your service invoice shows that?

^^ Ditto.

My Recirc comes on sometimes when I turn A/C on. Other than that, it stays where I put it.

Never use AUTO. It initially runs the fan on high speed and blasts all the dust stuck in the vents in my face because I seldom use high speed.
