Was at the dealer today looking at an F150 to replace my Ranger. 2019, Lariat, 501A, bedliner, bed cover, running boards, the works. 40,000 miles on it. They offered $25k for it which seems way low to me. Anything comparable for sale around here starts at $32k, so I was expecting at least $28k. Not like there's a overabundance of new rangers sitting on lots right now either, so I can't imagine they would have trouble selling it. Guess I'm in the ranger till the CDF bushing gives up.

Anyone else have recent trade in values to compare?
They have to make up for not selling all those electric vehicles...at least that is what I am hearing...

Times/markets change, then some dealers do gimmicks/added fees/etc.
Mine never has. Been doing business with for 30 years. 1/22, traded diesel crew cab, just took in for service, literally to point just doing an annual service, not based on mileage, for $6k more than paid 5 years earlier/added 30k miles, wasn’t really using for purpose purchased, “crazy time” ordered Tremor, values were same, so no money involved. Dealer had list of people wanting big diesels. Could have gotten $4-5 more privately, yet in my state, “sales tax” taken off new vehicle value on trade in value. So I got $500 more in pocket after deal done on $tax alone, plus when picked up Tremor, the LineX spray in bed liner and Grill guard was no charge. Took 3 months to get Ranger, dealer mentioned F350 had gained that much in value, reason felt it was “right” thing to do.
apparently the ford 6.7 diesel has had a lot of problems, according to Daves Auto Centre

he does 4 a month? Something to do with the oil not getting to the cam and turbo during startup. Apparently it takes 8 seconds to happen.

Heard that about some of them, know about a year before trading, in 20-21 got a letter from Ford that warranted this issue, upto 150k, mine had 77k when traded. Local guy purchased F350 I traded, drives heck out of it pulling 3car trailer, except for a fuel sensor, no issue, bit over 200k on it now. Still got a 16’, around 60k miles, use as recovery support vehicle. Local diesel shop mentioned what you said. Figure Ford’s extended got this covered at moment.

Always been a stickler on vehicle maintenance, did at local dealer, so always considered and get trade in, some push it. Had 2 16’s, cut back,, so kept 1, mainly this one just pulls boat/camper and local call out.

what's a CDF bushing?
There's a bushing inside one of the clutch drums in the transmission that is a press for to a larger bore. Except in some units this can come loose and move rearward over time, letting hydraulic pressure go where it shouldn't, eventually wrecking the transmission. Symptoms can be delayed shift from park to drive/reverse, or delayed/rough up/downshifts. Can affect all the 10R80/10R140s built before some time in 2023 when the design was revised. We suspect it was the failure behind several members transmissions failing here and mine feels like it's probably next. ?

Similar '19 Lariat, under 25K miles, clean Carfax was only offered $25,000 too...
Carvana offered almost $30K, Carmax $28 & change

Comparing KBB value today to what it was the first week of December is now $2k less on the 2021 XLT Tremor I had for a reference point.

Side note: Friend of mine has a used car dealership selling both regular and specialty cars. He said the auctions the past few months have had a lot of no-sale bids. If I understood him correctly, the high bids were not being accepted as they weren't meeting reserve prices. The latest auction was a majority repeat of the cars he saw go through the prior month with most still not meeting reserve as he attempted to purchase them again.

Just traded mine in on 12/30, so I've officially left the club, but will still be here to shitpost when possible.

2019 Ranger XLT Sport w/ 302A, Line-X, running boards, tonneau, and 41,500mi. Barely a scratch on it. No dents.

A Ford dealer offered me $27,500 but the deal didn't work on the vehicle I wanted to purchase. Went to a non-Ford dealer where I talked them up to $26,500 (from $24k) and pulled the trigger. They didn't believe me that I was offered $27,500 from the first dealer, but thankfully I had a copy of the proposal that I showed them.

I paid $28,500 for it in May 2020, so I figure $2k for 3.5 years and 38,000mi ain't bad and took their $26,500 offer since the rest of the deal worked well for me.

I'm starting to get upset! Down $2200 from Carvana, never thought it would go below $30k....dream on...it won't be worth anything by the time I get my 6g, scheduled for 1/8...

Values, I found, will go down when we change to a new year. it is a year older in their eyes...
Guess I can't blame them, because, really, it is a year older.
