Was at the dealer today looking at an F150 to replace my Ranger. 2019, Lariat, 501A, bedliner, bed cover, running boards, the works. 40,000 miles on it. They offered $25k for it which seems way low to me. Anything comparable for sale around here starts at $32k, so I was expecting at least $28k. Not like there's a overabundance of new rangers sitting on lots right now either, so I can't imagine they would have trouble selling it. Guess I'm in the ranger till the CDF bushing gives up.

Anyone else have recent trade in values to compare?
I recently bought a '19 Lariat, there were a bunch much higher than your quote on Carvana so you might check there. I got lucky on a Mazda lot to get one fully loaded with all options for less than $32

Did any of us REALLY believe that the strangest car market since WW2 would not eventually revert to pre-pandemic norms?
Awful lot of people just seem to not remember the weirdness of 2020 through mid 2023. Any of it.
We are doomed to repeat it at this rate.

I ran my 21 Lariat Tremor 501a, tow, Bedliner w/25400 miles thru Carvana this morning.
If someone knocked on my door with 37k I’d probably brighten their homes with it… including the RB20 slims that are on the way.

Imagine in the coming months when all the Raptor guys realize had they been more patient, or even looked in a wider area, they'd have an extra $20-70K in their pockets.....They are an impatient bunch and not savvy at negotiating based on what I've seen. 2024 will be an interesting year. Will continue to be expensive to buy anything, with many already tapped out.

Id imagine we might see a slight drop in total debt the next few years. I think a lot of folks have been in the mentality of buy today because it will be 20% more expensive and at a higher rate next year. But prices seem to be stabilizing a bit and interest rates projected to tick down a hare, so maybe less buying in 2024?

I know I sure wish I took advantage of the 0% for 72 months deals post COVID, but hindsight 20/20 and all....

I just sold my 2019 Lariat 4x4 with all factory options in Pearl White. It had 31,000 miles on it and had been dealer serviced. I did add the Ford Performance exhaust. I traded it on a 2023 Infiniti QX 60 for my wife. They gave me 31,700. Their first offer was 29,000.

how bad does Carvana nitpick you when they pick up your vehicle? they usually beat every dealer by ~$2,500, but I'm worried they'll show up and nitpick my truck back down in price.
They don't. The driver is just the person who loads it up and hands you a check, they aren't there to appraise it. I sold my outback to carvana, and it was about 5 minutes of paperwork, and 20 minutes to load on the trailer and they were gone. It appeared on their website within about a week. I got $8500 for it (trade in was 4200, and I turned it down) and it was sold in a day for $13500. That was in 2020, so prices have changed.

Times/markets change, then some dealers do gimmicks/added fees/etc.
Mine never has. Been doing business with for 30 years. 1/22, traded diesel crew cab, just took in for service, literally to point just doing an annual service, not based on mileage, for $6k more than paid 5 years earlier/added 30k miles, wasn’t really using for purpose purchased, “crazy time” ordered Tremor, values were same, so no money involved. Dealer had list of people wanting big diesels. Could have gotten $4-5 more privately, yet in my state, “sales tax” taken off new vehicle value on trade in value. So I got $500 more in pocket after deal done on $tax alone, plus when picked up Tremor, the LineX spray in bed liner and Grill guard was no charge. Took 3 months to get Ranger, dealer mentioned F350 had gained that much in value, reason felt it was “right” thing to do.
