Used car sales have slowed significantly over the past two months and cars are sitting on the lots in my area in the southeast. Dealers are hedging their bets that the vehicles they take in on trade may not move quick. I took a quick look and dealers in my area are advertising used Rangers at what KBB has as trade in value currently.

Curious to see if it does. No shortage of folks at the dealer today buying cars. Do t know how they have the cash, but maybe everyone just ignores interest rates now.

Sell to Carvana. Did it with my focus and will be doing it with the ranger soon. I got the quote from last over the summer just to see on mine and it was 34k w/ 20k miles. They give way more than a dealer will, won’t hassle you for not including accessories(they only care about what the car came with from factory), and you get the check and can cash it the moment they arrive to pick it up. Hopefully Michigan will implement a law allowing manufactures to sell direct to consumers, and manufactures will follow. Would love to never have to speak to a salesman again.

Car prices, new and used, tanked recently. There is a huge new car inventory for most models, so used prices reflect that.

Also seems low. I get they have to make a few $ profit, but you'd never find a used one for sale for that kind of money.
Keep in mind that the offer they give you for a trade-in is given in the context of the whole deal, including the purchase price of the new vehicle and the financing/lease terms. So for example they might give you $1k off the purchase price as compared to the last guy they sold one to, but then just undervalue your trade-in by a $1k.

A good sales guy will play the different elements of the deal off of each other to find where you psychologically see value.

A Ford dealer offered me 28k for my 21 Lariat Tremor 501A, spray liner, tow etc with 24k miles on a 14 low mileage FJ a month ago.
A Jeep dealer offered me 35k on a used Rubicon. A couple of people in my family over the years have stated Ford dealers always were harder to deal with. Coincidence maybe but it was my recent experience too.

I bought a used outback in 2016 from a subby dealer and they offered me 2300 for my mazda 3. I sold it in a few days for 7500, before I even went back to pick up the outback. When I bought the ranger they offered me 4200 for the outback, and I sold it to carvana for 8500. I can understand people trading in to save the hassle, but I've had good luck selling stuff on my own.

If you're an electric vehicle fan, you can buy and F150 Lightning for less than just about any other F150. The local dealer has several in stock, including an XLT with the 2022 (?) package, for $58,000.

Carvana is offering $28.5k for mine at the moment, so more in line with what I'd expect. But I'd loose $3.5k in incentives for trading in a Ford on the deal at the dealer, so it's a wash there. Will have to see maybe if the incentives change at the beginning of next month.

Speaking of nutty prices, there's a 2011 Ranger with 55k on it for sale on Carvana for $21,600!

Was at the dealer today looking at an F150 to replace my Ranger. 2019, Lariat, 501A, bedliner, bed cover, running boards, the works. 40,000 miles on it. They offered $25k for it which seems way low to me. Anything comparable for sale around here starts at $32k, so I was expecting at least $28k. Not like there's a overabundance of new rangers sitting on lots right now either, so I can't imagine they would have trouble selling it. Guess I'm in the ranger till the CDF bushing gives up.

Anyone else have recent trade in values to compare?
Why don't you stop over at CarMax and get a quote, or contact Carvana? I am sure you will get a better deal for both.

IDK, Carvana offer on my 2019 XLT w 25k mi was $28k, which I thought was low too (I should add I installed a Lariat grill but not fooling anyone)...They said add $1600 for trade price but I'm not buying from them. The Carfax pricing I get monthly has steadily dropped from my initial 2024 6g order pre strike production date in September around $34k. That's a huge drop to me not reflective of my sparse driving/mileage. No Rangers on the local lot, but they are selling more cars than ever for a small dealer, bc they post every sale on Instagram! Even the sales mgr told me he is surprised... I'm dreading the trade offer when my new Ranger comes in next month...a friend wants to buy it, but I'd have to cover the 6% tax advantage of trading which is almost $2000...
