NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V379000

Manufacturer Ford Motor Company

Components EQUIPMENT

Potential Number of Units Affected 29,607

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles. The Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Remedy
Ford will mail a new TREAD label to install over the existing label, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 5, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23C18.

so instead of recalling the trans they are lowering the pay load??? maybe hoping to get an extra mile out of them?
I can picture the Senior Exec meeting now:

"We have a problem with the load capacity on the 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Rangers, we over stated"

"Any idea what this will cost us?"

"We estimate $1.2b to replace the equipment to meet the designated capacity"

"Another billion?!"

"Well, we could just send new stickers"

"And then book a $1.1b savings through process improvements! Print them!"

Is this going to affect the towing capacity?

Instead of having to go to a dealer to slap on a label, why not have an option to have it mailed to the owner to put on themselves? I'm not missing any work for a label.

That is exactly what the recall states (emphasis mine):

Remedy
Ford will mail a new TREAD label to install over the existing label, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed, free of charge.

Thanks for clarification, I guess I read too fast and missed that part.
