so instead of recalling the trans they are lowering the pay load??? maybe hoping to get an extra mile out of them?
Hi Dave,

I do not believe this has anything to do with Transmissions...

best,
Phil

Instead of having to go to a dealer to slap on a label, why not have an option to have it mailed to the owner to put on themselves? I'm not missing any work for a label.
Go re-read the recall.

Interesting how revising the specifications that you bought downward is not a problem for Ford. Hopefully not a big change but on heavy dutys could impact hauling/ camper/ towing ability. Doubt it was a printing error, more likely something is failing that they need to blame on overloading going forward.

How do we go from an incorrectly printed tire rating to a transmission recall?
They probably accidentally put LT ratings on vehicles equipped with SL tires.

Attached are the recall reports. Seems that Ford didn't take into account mod center or dealer installed options in GVWR. Specific to Ranger:

Manufacturer Ford Motor Company

Components EQUIPMENT

Potential Number of Units Affected 29,607

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles. The Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Remedy
Ford will mail a new TREAD label to install over the existing label, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 5, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23C18.

I couldn't even hear it , its like your whispering ... can you repost in ALL CAPS so i can hear you ?

One of the reasons I bought it was because of the payload. If mine goes down much, it would almost assuredly have me buy something besides Ford next time. I simply wouldn’t trust I was buying what I thought I was.

funny because it's highly probable😞

forgot the $500,000,000 bonuses they gave themselves
I can picture the Senior Exec meeting now:

"We have a problem with the load capacity on the 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Rangers, we over stated"

"Any idea what this will cost us?"

"We estimate $1.2b to replace the equipment to meet the designated capacity"

"Another billion?!"

"Well, we could just send new stickers"

"And then book a $1.1b savings through process improvements! Print them!"
And at that Senior Exec meeting i can imagine they had a catered lunch W/ desserts and spent half a workday figuring out the solution.
