WAIT A MINUTE, please share (sorry if I missed it if you did) but what was needed for the gear change? I saw Ford performance added those gear ratio kits in their catalog under our gen Ranger but it was not made clear.

Or shoot, what shop did it? I would drive to CA for a gear swap. Taking my Ranger to my buddies tire shop this weekend in Inglewood for tires and alignment lol. Two alignment shops in Vegas both sucked so ever since just go to my buddies shop. Central Tire Service #5 if you are in the area, ask for Aldo.

APG this year just told me a gearing change was not possible without a diff swap and custom parts, plus they only do it for people who have their APG kit already. Man, this is giving me hope in gearing again.

I am trying to catch up since I just saw this thread but does it help remove some of the off idle sluggishness? To me kinda feels like boost lag but maybe is the way Ford programed the throttle input. I have 285/70/17 (~33") and wouldn't mind getting some torque back.
A friend at the dealer did the work on the side and it took a coulple week's though.

Nice job, questions on the rear bumper since it's advertised, 8 believe, as not compatible with the stock tow bar...

What all did you change? Looks like just the chain tabs and the plate for the plug ??‍♂ ? I need to read this again, I'm confused

Finally got the kit but being the first NA Ranger it turns out the mounting bracket is different than the international model. New brackets are being made.

Sorry to ask, tried finding out but what kit was that? PB brake kit? Did it need 18" wheels?

This build is incredible. I'd like your opinion on the engine modifications you did. I see:
  1. throttle body
  2. intake runner
  3. radiator
  4. charge pipes
  5. intercooler
  6. electric fan
  7. BOV

Are these mods worth it? Reading it all, it sounds like your mileage increased a little but the low end drivability improved too. Is there any of these mods you think wasn't worth the install? I have a snorkel, so the big mouth isn't needed. I have the Unleashed tune and gears already, but I am always looking for good mods that help with efficiency. I don't need big power, but ease of getting off the line.

Also, Maxbore seems to have closed shop, any leads on another TB boring company?

They all added up. I don't think there's one
i wouldn't have done. The way I seal the hood/ radiator cover added to the efficiency of the big mouth. It helps with mileage at higher speeds. But if you have the actual external snorkel that's irrelevant. Unfortunately I heard Maxbore passed away and haven't needed another one since. So, I haven't looked at any other shops since.

You just need to remove all the bumper brackets. My pictures show the before and after. I modified the tow plug bracket to tuck it better. If I was more patient i would have used my plasma cutter and cut out the opening right where the stock tow plug went.

How hard is it going to be without a plasma cutter? Grinder instead?

Some was done with Sawzall and grinder. You can use whatever you have available for cutting metal. Just might take a bit longer.

Since my hood supports died i felt like the hood was still too heavy even though it's aluminum 50 lbs. Still gonna warranty the supports and replace them. I decided to get one of them fancy fiberglass ones. The fit was pretty good. I did have to put my ditch light bracket between the hood and hinge on the passenger side to get the height even. It was too low on that side. I trimmed the leading edge to make the line even with the grille and headlights. I swapped over the windshield wiper fluid sprayers and weatherstrips as well. The heat extraction does actually work as i check with my infrared thermometer. Maybe I'll switch the CAI to one that has an open top and seal the ram air to it in the future. Took a bit of adjusting to get the latch to close with the same amount of drop as the stock one had. Going to get some heat cycles in to fully cure it and then paint the vents black and wrap the rest to match the rest of the truck.
