We got a total of 10” where I am in Texas so far! -15 wind chills too! My first test of the grass/gravel/snow mode and first time using 4H, truck drove 2 hours on unmaintained roads and didn’t slip on the solid layer of ice one time! I actually put it in 2wd for a little bit just so I could have fun ?

Well, not really. Lake snow only happens when there is enough open warm water, then cold air crosses it and pulls moisture out and warms up. Seems I read it was a minim of 70K of open water to create this effect.. When these cloud of moisture hits the shore, it must be lifted a certain minim elevation and in a set amount of miles in order for it to snow. Shores without a hill can't do this, and don't get lake snow. Lake moisture simply dissipates and the air temp drops again. Many, many towns who claim to get "lake snow" really don't.. In the world of weather, its a rare setup.
Yeah, it seems to be less common than we actually think it is. My hometown sits high up above Lake Huron on the Canadian side where the lake is about 120 miles wide. It gets dumped on pretty good. Whether your area is meeting those specific conditions or not, man, you sure get a crap ton of snow. The pictures are great!

I like that your dog is always out there with you. Looks to be really happy in the snow. :) :)
Oh they do like to be in the snow. Wally wasn't on the bush roof on his own accord but was told to go there for the photo... . We do train these dogs.

I just got back from a run around town and will post snow photos as soon as I can processe them.

Photos taken this morning... At the store parking lot, multiple vehicles were running and not locked. My truck is now parked at the neighbors seen in 1st photos so as to clear snow from our street and property.. The 2nd from the bottom is the street we reside on. I'll post more later today.

Oh oh, I also drove past the city snow dump nearest us to take photos, but no snow had been left there this year..... Maybe the city will start using it now. Our little town might have 4 of them. Ask is you don't know what a snow dump is.

A few years ago Buffalo got hit by a massive snow storm that caused several buildings to collapse from the weight of the snow. I was reminded of that seeing some pics of snow piled up on the roof of Arly's house.

You explain it well. Having spent part of my youth just south of Buffalo NY, I have fond memories of lake effect snow.
It can turn a nice sunny winter day into all hell breaks loose. Here's a snapshot of one.

Since it don’t snow here often, had to go for more. This time doing circles with 4hi. By the time I finished the last one, all kinds of warnings came on. No Hill Assist, Service Traction Control, Accident Avoidance blah blah blah. By the time I got home all was back to normal.

Nice to know ranger5g members had a hand in getting Gary home. Membership has its privileges.
You have a fair amount of snow headed your way. Normally I might say you can have fun with your Ranger in the snow, but it is never fun in the snow in the GTA.

Although many years ago we were doing donuts in the icy snow in a parking lot in Scarbourgh, that had one car in it. We did several donuts and one was particularly good. As I was coming to a stop, I thought, I might be getting close to the car. When I did stop, I turned and looked and I had stopped about two inches from the car.

It’s just not the same here in the city. Nothing beats driving in the snow on a narrow winding road in a forested area in the country. It’s just so tranquil, quiet, relaxing. There are some roads like that just before the cottage. Here, it’s just slush, sirens, honking horns, and traffic lights. It must be so beautiful up in Algonquin Park right now.

If you’re talking about the train from Sault Ste. Marie to Algonquin Park, I think so. I hear it’s very scenic. Gary (@Swingpure) might know more about it. He’s quite a ways from the park and the route but it’s a regional thing, so he might know. Have you taken that historic train?
