I get what you’re saying, and I do appreciate your candid response. I’ve worked with low voltage wire most of my life. If it fails I will make a proper splice but at this time I wasn’t prepared to make a cut if I didn’t have too. I sealed the connector with liquid electrical tape which should hold it in place.Hi Jerry,
The splice you used for the red wire tap is a POS....it is most likely going to fail...You need a more robust splice methodology. I have been over this several times...Scotchloc splices are terrible, Then cut the wiring sheath leaving the support to the copper strands in the wiring and will fatigue and fail. I do not recommend this sort of splice for anything other than an emergency repair to be fixed at a later date....
Ranger Forum folks....do not do splices this way, ever!
