friends i got home from work tonight only to find out that my dad thought my mom may have had a stroke. i rushed on. she did. been at the er all night so far with them. im not ready to let a parent go yet, shes in general healthy and even still works at her bizz a few days a week. i was just telling someone here how tough she is recently and how she beat cancer. im requesting prayers and positive thoughts for my mother to be well and restored to health / ability.
thank you
Hang in there, baby! They can work miracles in ER with the technology they have now. After that, with rehab, dietary changes, and an exercise program, she will be generally healthy and back to work (if she wants) in months! Not to worry!

That's good news Mark! I'm sure it's stressful for you and your family but just remember that everything you're doing is a huge help for her and I'm sure she appreciates it. Here's hoping and praying she recovers quickly. ?

This is very good to hear, and I'll be remembering your family in prayer for continued recovery for your mom, and strength and courage for the rest of you as you minister to her and care for her while she works to get better.
Hang tough!

While hard to stomach, sometimes the in-patient rehab is best because it is more intense and happens multiple times daily. This is probably a good thing for your mom as the more times she is worked toward regaining her normal function now may well result in her coming home to you all in better shape to take care of herself.

I know this is difficult, but try to hang in there. I suspect her medical team is indeed doing what they think best for her overall recovery.

I cannot explain how poorly prepared I was for all of this and it is just starting. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support everyone. it means a lot to me and is helping me not go crazy. I urge any of you with older parents / family members to get things squared away and in order now. health care stuff, bills, the works. things change so fast it is unthinkable. Mom is still in the hospital and we are waiting to be moved to a rehab hospital. Things are full all around at the moment and bed space is very limited. Bless all of you for the prayers and support thank you

Hopefully they can find room for her soon. Covid has really put a strain on everything these past couple years. Good advise on getting prepared for older family members. I think most are not prepared for something like this as they don't either think of it or like to think of bad things happening. Also most older folks don't want to admit they need help and are use to being self sufficient. I know may dad is like that and I'm sure I'll be like that too. My parents are 2400 miles away but I do have a sister closer but she's still 30 minutes away. We'll all keep praying for you and your family Mark.

Kate had cancer and is in remission and that's when we finally did wills and put the house in a trust.

That's really good advice Mark and we've got your mom in our hearts, stay strong, that makes a big difference for her.

Hi Mark,

Being unprepared plays out time and time again here in Green Valley. You are not alone and have unfortunately learned a valuable lesson. In your case it is immediately correctable.

Folks laughed when we paid $ to revise our trust to include our Tortoise, Tito but it is reassuring to know he will be well taken care of when we are no longer here on this earth,

God Speed, Mark!

Best,
Phil

Hi David,

I sincerely hope Kate stays in remission and never has to face cancer recurring. Glad you now have your affairs in good order. We have quite a large trust document which includes Living Wills, Powers of Attorney etc as well as all the complicated financial arrangements necessary for our handicapped daughter to receive the support she will need for her entire life...

Head ache to do...glad it is over and done with but we now have peace of mind in place...

God Bless,
Phil
