Did my first little bit of off-roading with the new ranger this weekend to genoa peak in Lake Tahoe. it was definitely a success.. I have a feeling there will be much more to come. I already got the rear tire off the ground descending this trail, so I think some mods will be in order soon...

Was having a good time in Joshua Tree today testing out the new tires I got on Wednesday

Until about 2 hours later when I found this after noticing this tire was at 13psi instead of 24...

My wife and I had a blast on 'fins n things' in moab last weekend. as usual no impressive photos, as ive got a white-knuckle grip on the steering wheel and my wife prefers to be in the truck not in the dust;)

below is one shot from the second half. we had a blast riding up and down these sandstone waves, and struggled through the steps with no drama to get here, other than leaving some scrapes on the departure hardware

of note, we did two things to improve our departure angle for this trail. which was a persistent issue on this trail in our stock truck.

1) new 32" tires, for a tad bit more clearance/angle.

2) whacking the tow hitch repeatedly on the exit. now that the steel fins have been bent up i bet we get an extra degree or two;)

we have the goodyear duratrac 255/75/17s now. very happy so far. its a 32" tire that fits stock (unlifted, unmodified).

there are a few other threads on it, heres one i was posting to:

My 32s (265/70/17 Wildpeak A/T3Ws) fit well, except at full right lock, there's a bit of rubbing on the frame behind the tire. It has to be full-lock though and it's really quite tame. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

My 32's (265/65/18 Wildpeak A/T3Ws) fit perfectly no rubbing... except the brake line which was catching the side grabbers on the left tire at full left lock. Some quick bending of the brake line bracket and all good.

Will a 32 fit as a spare tire under the bed?

Yes it will. I just changed mine out before leaving for UT just in case something happened and I wasn't stuck there with just the spare. 265/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grappler

i have read a 33 will too.

our new 32 fits fine. it does subjectively look bulkier down there, even though the 255/75/17 duratrac is a 10" wide tire compared to the stock hancook 10/5". i was worried it would sit low enough that it might take some offroad rock hits, but it looks like that was a non issue. no evidence of scraping on fins n things which is about as burly as we'll get.
