Found this last night when on friends hoist. Took delivery of it Monday PM. Looks like lift point for when they mount cab to frame. Drivers side ahead of fuel tank.

I would imagine that would be covered under warranty. Its a good thing you caught it quickly before the rust monster could take hold.

On the bright side, the first scratch is always the worst..

That’s kinda why I posted it. For those who’ve taken recent delivery to see if I’m the only one. Or if there’s others out there.

good looking out. I've had mine on lifts and fortunately no paint issues like that. I've been through two winters with the Ranger and minor surface rust on some crossmembers. I am planning on wire brushing and shooting with rustoleum when the weather gets better.

I had a few small spots like that under mine. I just hit it with an etching primer and it matched up perfectly. Looked like marks from assembly line where cab and bed were married with frame.

Man go buy a semi matching can of grey Rustolium and spray over that and drive on with life. Don’t waist time making a trip back to a dealer for this.
Agreed , they won't even wipe it off first and will spray Overtop everything, dirt and all...

Agreed, thats all the dealer can do to fix it anyway, except you’ll probably have to drop it off and leave it with their body shop for a couple of days.

I'm in the DIY camp. The person who does the work at the dealership is just going to get the job "done". You, the person who actually cares, will clean, prep and correct and you'll have the confidence it was done correctly.

I’m in agreement with others on this thread. Yes dealer needs to know and make a record of the defect. Then tell them you’re going to schedule a repair date when you look at your calendar. Then get the necessary items and do a “fix” yourself so you know it meets your expectations of a proper repair.

I had advanced ocd for many years, reality is the stealership shop monkey is going to possibly curb your rims pulling it onto the rack. get the door handle, steering wheel, arm rest and floor mat filthy with what ever is on his arm, hands & shoes. half-a$$ rattle can spray the area.
ALTERNATIVE
Stop by the local body shop supply aisle, pic up a can of med grey etch primer, clean the area with alcohol, mask off what you dont want primer on and shoot it yourself.
