The first thing I didn't like, are the switches for the cruise control.
I like that they are mounted on the steering wheel, but I couldn't use it without a short glance.
With this feeling point is this problem solved (for me)

Agreed. It's lame the way Ford does the cruise control. On my old Tacoma it was seamless. But then again.. the HVAC is even more lame on the Ranger.

I love our Ranger... but there are things that just make you wonder.... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

im sure the first time you fingered...oh never mind, that sure to get deleted....

once you use the buttons enough you will know where they are. I too had the same problem wondering which was which, but you start to react by memory at some point
you are right but with this knob I find it faster :)

I'm in the camp that thinks the button layout is terrible. I assume they did it this way so that the steering wheel looked symmetric, not because a human factors study told them it was actually good.

My Mercedes has this kind and this is not bad. the Ranger ones are not very ergonomically but not too bad with this feel-able knob

Glad to know I'm not alone here. I also don't like how Ford laid out the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Then again my last 13 years or so have been spent driving Toyota and Lexus with the best cruise control lever there is. I'll get used to it. Might have to add on a little knob like the OP did there. Smart move.

My 97 F150 had touch features on cruise control buttons. Dots and lines to feel in dark. Guess new is not always better.

How will blind people drive now?

That must be a Lariot...my XLT has resume/cancel in the center and on/off on the right...never the less, after a day of use I'm hardwired to the routine...it's not that hard...all my cars are different and I'm hardwired to each of their differences...

I used to have British (right side shift) and Japanese (left side shift) motorcycles at the same time. There was never a problem adapting from one to the other...the fast reliable bikes shifted with the left foot while the oil leaky bikes shifted with the right foot. There were no braille bumps on either set of shifters so I'm not sure how the blind riders got by either.

A better analogy would be if one bike used your knee to switch. Sure you could figure it out, but why, when there are better arrangements.

I still need to look at the wheel to get the CC up and running. I just have paws and reduced tactile sensitivity from Carpal tunnel issues ( I did get surgery but I think I waited too long , if you get a numbing of the finger tips take care of it right away!!) But back to CC . I like the nub for the center , what is it from, original purpose?

A tactile bump, well done.. and thanks for sharing. I could swear that Ford used to have those back in the 1990's?

I'll be taking advantage of your creativity and use this idea on my ranger too.
