Well as many of you may know if you've seen my past posts, I've had a lot of trouble with the Ford dealership in my hometown. Just to recap the past situation my oil filter shield wasn't put back on after I got my oil change. Went to dealership, said they don't even take them off to get to the filter but that they'd order a new one. 2 wrong parts later I gave up. But came time for my oil change today and I decided instead of just using my last free one from the dealer I'd just do it myself from now on. Everything went well, but working at autozone I know the part numbers for all oil filter brands for my truck. I used a mobil 102-A. But taking the old filter off I noticed the part number on the one they put in. Motorcraft filter for this truck should be a FL910.. What is this??

That looks like a factory part number. The FL910 is an aftermarket number.

Every Ford I have ever purchased new had a number like that on it. And in most cases the factory filter came from a different supplier than the aftermarket Motocraft filter.

I would say the dealership got some factory filters.

Thanks for the clarification! Maybe that is the case

I just zip tie the plastic cover on. Those Philips head plastic fasteners are garbage.

You can always sharpie the date on the filter to make sure it gets changed.
My problem was I never got the plastic part back.. They claimed they never took it off, I assume they somehow broke it or lost it. I ended up DIY-ing with some rubber material and plastic rivets

Out of curiosity how many miles are on your truck? If the dealer already admits to not changing the oil filter when they are supposed to and you have proff of such then I see a big thing between you and a lawyer VS the Dealer.

In my area there seemed to be a shortage of FL910 filter, everyone was sold out even my local dealer. That must be the filter they got to use in the mean time.

No attorney would take that case in a hundred years.

Champion laboratories makes OEM Motorcraft, AC Delco, autozone brand (STP), as well as Mobil 1.. To the best of my knowledge
Purolator has been making the aftermarket Motocraft filters like the FL910 for years.
