As you know getting at the oil filter for a change is a challenge, thinking of installing a remote filter just wondering
if anyone has any thoughts on this of has done it.

I posted something about this a month or so ago, I got nothing solid. That said, it's not actually that hard to get to the oil filter, and if lots of people complain, the aftermarket will fill the void.

I did the first oil change, the second is coming up in the next month or so, I'll be putting another FL-400S in, and not worrying about it.

It's only three screws to get to the oil filter. It takes longer to get to the drain plug. Anything to relocate the filter is just one more thing that can fail. If it's that inconvenient, you can always trim the shroud thats blocking it.

For the plug access, I have a Fumoto valve and extension waiting to get installed. I didn't have the extension when I did the first change so the second will have to do.

I did find it a slight PITA to remove the skid plate, and I can see it getting messed up with repeated removal and replacement, especially if they/you use the impact to put it back on.

Does installing this Fumoto device save work in future oil changes, outside of removing the drain plug?
Yes, put a hose on the Nipple, direct it to your drain pan, and open the valve - no fuss.

I'm waiting for someone to decide to add a toilet paper bypass oil filter like they used to do in the 70s. You can still buy them!

I just want a remote oil filter so I can put it up in the engine bay and leave the wheel well alone during changes...

No, the pan now has a fumoto valve, the most annoying part is getting to the oil filter for me. Second oil change, and I've already stripped out one of the weird little screw clips. It was full of dirt and wouldn't turn free, the plastic was easily mangled by a quality screwdriver. I had to pry it out. Swapped it with one that I don't need to remove in order to change the oil.
