Everything readable says it will only show at low pressure and not when you start or switch on...

from the 2019 service manual
I see...thanks for that...I'll have to look for it...?

I thought reading the dip stick you were 1 qt low in the cross hatch section and exactly full when both holes in the dip stick were filled with oil? That is how it looks when I return from the dealer when they say 7 qts were charged to my account.

If they are putting in 7 qts you are over full by 3/4s of a quart.

As some of you have said, checking it cold on level ground is key

The last part is to take the stick out and not pay attention, just wipe it. Walk away for ten min and then reinsert to check the level

I have found the dipstick hinders the oil from draining down the tube. If you let it sit for a few minutes while the dipstick is out, it allows the excess oil to drain down the tube so when you reinsert it isn't scraping excess oil from the sides of the tube

But hey if the tube squeegee comes out, I'll be on board. Better idea than those Boomba things
I can actually see a niche market for the tube squeegee now. Who knows, maybe it will surpass the tailgate damper as the most important Ranger after market accessory

I guess their theory is that they have to exceed six quarts to get to 6.2, so they round up and bill you for the next quart.

Then they need to include the unused 3/4q for you to take home, and it should only happen if they use bottled oil, not pumped from a drum.

I guess you could ask for it If you really want it. Personally, I don’t want to take home 3/4 quart of oil. If I changed it myself, I would have to buy 7 quarts and I would probably just dispose of of the remnant 3/4 quart along with the old oil anyway.

I check my oil on a cold engine.

Pull the dipstick, wipe it down, re-insert, pull again, check level.

It's worked on every vehicle I've driven for over 30 years. Including my Ranger.

Did some of you never get taught how to check oil?

I wonder how does any one confirm the oil change was filled correctly if you can't check it until the next day? o_O ?

Why would you need to confirm?

Drain it all. Put in 6 â…• qts, and you're good.

I guess there's no worry after "I" change it my self but for others who took like check after a shop gives them the key, it might be nice to verify the refill was done right...oh well...sucks for them... ?
