These god forsaken pop clips... These damned things would not pop loose like they are supposed to on the first oil change at 1K miles. So I replaced all the ones needed to get access to the filter with neodymium magnets epoxied to both sides of the rubber flap. When access to the filter if needed just tug on the flap and remove the filter. When done, push the flap back into place and let the magnets do their job. 8k miles and still holding firm.

I think I'm going to try bonding some strong magnets to the liner an seeing if they will hold the fap to the frame

Those are the shittiest fasteners ever invented...using a screw driver that necessarily applies pressure while it needs to be backing out while unscrewing...motions working against each other...crap...

I've done four oil changes on our Ranger, and not had any issues with this fasteners.. yet.

FWIW: This is what I do... hope this helps!

The problem is rotating the philips head does nothing to back it out...it just spins more often than not...

Yep, I had that happen.... Then I inserted the flat screwdriver, between the button head and the panel... when you twist the screwdriver it attempts to lift the button head, which puts inward pressure on the wings, which push inward against the screw, and allows the screw to unthread.

Well, that's how it's worked for me anyways.

As long as you aren't worried about a concours show, there are some alternatives in this thread

I'll go out on a limb here and say there are probably less than 10 forum members who haven't made absolutely any changes, including unwrapping glove box manuals...

Something else I do, when the push type clips are out, throw on a rubber glove and douse them with some of this every few times:

https://blasterproducts.com/product/dry-lube-with-teflon/

Once it dries you'll usually be able to pull the center pin out with your fingers.

Any suitable dry/teflon lube will do the job. You just want something dry so grit and grunge doesn't get stuck on them.
