Good luck keeping a white top, white wheels, a white dash, and a white grille clean.

I was excited about the heritage edition until I saw a dirty one and good lord did my enthusiasm die. Also kind of down on the Bronco color palate overall after the killing of Cyber Orange.

Hi Mark,

I share your worry. I was ready to end my time on 5g on Jan 2 2023...but decided to stick around for a bit...my time is limited as these forums are moving to Mod only and I cannot comment much on them. I tried here to help and to share backstories that folks could understand how difficult it is to bring a new vehicle to market etc. Thanks to KJ for trying to consolidate these stories, but the thread is getting old now....

Best,
Phil

Hang on a second; are you saying there's a thread here with your Ranger engineering & development stories? How is this not stickied? Was it created by you?

I'm going to look for it now...

Edit: I FOUND IT.

im worried r5g my end up like ford ranger forum and others for the 4g and older models. they are basically spam bot waste lands now lol.
another reason I don't like it when the companies that own forums like this create a whole new forum for the "new version" of whatever vehicle the forum is about.

excessive segmentation spreads out the user base, kills traffic and community, and makes the forums ripe for spam bots to take over.

but these site owners don't care about any of that. they want more pages/sites to put more ads on. they play the SEO game, which is skewed to garbage, anyway, and bot traffic is traffic, so they don't GAF.

It won't be long before forums are taken over by chat AI accounts.

One day, when the time is right, I’ll get one in this colour combo. This was the family hauler from 79-87.

What is that? The Panoka truck and tractor pull? ;)

considering that the domain registration is private, and there don't appear to be any real identifying details about the person/company that owns ranger5g, I couldn't say.

But to an extent, this place feels a little bit like a VerticalScope-run forum in some respects. Not all, so it's not gonna be owned by that company.

VerticalScope Inc.

What VerticalScope does is swallow existing forums. They don't really GAF about the pages they buy, and when they do, they make changes to them to turn them into what they want (to make more money), not what necessarily respects the history of the forum. It's killed a lot of forums over the years because of it. Quite a few end up becoming bot-infested wastelands because the users leave because VS turns the place into something they're not interested in. When the users and unpaid mods leave, nobody is left to report or get rid of the bots. But by-gosh, VS keeps the domain up and lets the bots run rampant because their analytics show that the site gets visits, posts, and responses!

Forums can be killed in lots of ways. What the owner of ranger5g, ranger6g, etc is doing is a different kind of forum-killing. Make a whole new website for the latest-and-greatest and you set into motion the death of discussions about older models. But, you do get better SEO for your new website about the latest-and-greatest, which gets you more ad revenue.
