So what is wrong with Chromed mounting hardware. Sure less likely to rust or scrape than painted raw metal. Just saying.. And I know it's to each his own!
Charles. There’s nothing wrong with chrome, I don’t have any on my truck. This is a moot subject. Leave it the way you like it and I’ll make mine the way I like. :like:

Edit: moot :)

Oh I’m totally in agreement on that! Hence my comment of “to each his own”. And for the record, it’s a “Moot point” :like:

Parts shown. Installation Instructions attached for download. It is obviously the Dee Zee after market damper. External mounting like most of the after market kits for other trucks.

How odd. It looks different from the one at Ford Parts.com

Might be because this is from Ford Accessories and not Ford Parts. Haven’t compared part numbers so I don’t know why the parts diagram is so different.

Ford parts and Ford accessories has the same part number. I guess whoever uploaded the diagram at Ford Parts put up the wrong one.

The diagram has recycled illustrations for efficiency purposes. I'm guessing at some point they might update it but for the fact that you have a decent idea of what you're going to get, there's no point in having another illustration created with whatever illustration program they use.

But it’s nothing like what you get. This is the F150 version with replacement Pivot point and hidden damper.

Right, but it's in a similar spot and does the same thing. Not all illustrations are 100%. Most aren't great actually. Haha.

OK, I guess we can agree to disagree. The F150 is mounted on the Passenger side and replaces the pivot mount and hides the damper inside the tail light area. The Ranger is on the driver side and simply attaches to the inner bed opening and tailgate. And so it is what it is, And I believe it is an error not a reuse for convenience sake. I was glad to finally get a damper, but was disappointed that it wasn’t the same configuration as the diagram showed which was like the F150 damper.

I agree it's misleading. I'm just telling you what I know from experience. Wich is probably why on the Ford Accessories site it doesn't actually show a picture of the damper.
