My truck shop guy says its not a conventional damper. Its a coil spring inside the tailgate. Prob why its not a $25 part like the traditional dampers...
No, it’s an external pneumatic damper.

They could have powder coated the hardware instead of leaving bare metal. I may take the time to paint everything black or (N6) PTM the pieces.

I think I'll hit mine with some black rollbar/chasis rattle can before installing. Order is still in processing though.

Whatever.... just passing the word. It's not the first time and internal was mentioned here and for $350 bux plus install, it better not be a traditional pneumatic damper like the DZ...

the "tree fiddy" plus install was a joke, but if it had been an internal spring type thing, it might have been right.

Yeah, gonna have to take care of that hardware :D

are you guys ever happy?
No, no we're not.

EDIT: and to be fair, I don't think anyone was complaining about the price, just that it's not black which we we're talking about fixing on our own.

are you guys ever happy? you want painted parts for that low price??? ugh.
I’m not unhappy or complaining, just stating my opinion. I don’t have a prob painting those parts on my dime either. I just have “Ranger Pride” and want it look better. :)

So what is wrong with Chromed mounting hardware. Sure less likely to rust or scrape than painted raw metal. Just saying.. And I know it's to each his own!
