So just curious from the ones that have installed a catch can.

Just a few questions.
  1. Which one did you go with(Buy), and why?
  2. Pros & Cons of the JLT, Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can Kit , Or the UPR Single/Dual valve. and With/WIthout Check valve and why.
As of now I am looking into the UPR Single Valve, is the check valve and other options worth the expense?

if you were ordering the UPR what options would you order it with?

Thanks Gals/Guys

Installed the mishimoto this past weekend. same as other mishimoto products the quality is top notch & install instructions complete garbage. If you have a tremor the can bracket has to be slightly modified. Connecting the rubber lines to the pcv's is pretty tight but not horrible terrible. . Mishimoto recommends one hose running on top of the coolant lines which for me was impossible, it does fit fine under the line. I called mishimoto yesterday and they said as long as nothing is pulling the lines are fine. Overall install was maybe 1.5 hours

Hum. I have yet to find a make or model, which comes from the factory with an oil catch can. I wonder why?
That an a CAI (which the truck already has). I may be over optimistic, but I trust that if the 2.3 needed a catch can, Ford would have put one. These 2.3's are not the TDI of old.

Agree 100%! Change your oil at recommended intervals (or sooner), use a good quality oil and drive it.

It is worth mentioning that Ford has no problem with dealer service depts charging to clean out the intake valve chambers when they get nasty way down the road, causing poor performance. GDI is a product of mpg requirements so nasty intake valve chamber build up over time is a side effect due to fuel spray not washing out the nastiness like direct port injection did. Nothing auto makers can do about it and most people won’t care or notice degrading performance over time. I have seen firsthand what lack of catch can can do at 100k and it is a thick nasty goop to clean out. Also, adding on a catch can is additional expense and maintenance (ie emptying the can) that auto makers don’t want to spend and drivers don’t want to have to remember to do. I have not yet seen an automaker state why you should not have a catch can either.

I have 2 ebay Mishimoto knockoffs (one for breather side and one for PCV side) and they work great.

Yes GDI is, or can be, an issue. This is one of the reasons, I suspect, that late-model, performance-based Ford vehicles have both port and direct injection. And, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2.3L EcoBoost has both on future models. However, this issue is much more pronounced in the press, than it is in reality.

My local Ford dealer's sales percentages are really heavy on the pickup side of their business, due to their location in the oil patch (Permian Basin). The service manager told me, he's only done three port cleans in recent memory. This begs the question....

What is the biggest service issue seen by all dealerships? The answer should be obvious; The lack of frequent maintenance, especially oil changes. Duh!

I would not recommend one that didn't use check valves.

On the current Ranger they are a massive pain to install.

With or without one of course the truck is going to run - even if you never clean the intake in the future.

Installed the mishimoto CC because of quality, warranty, instructions, and I just really like mishi’s parts. I have there CAI, intercooler pipes, and catch can. All are top notch in my opinion
