This is for the electronic minded. Basic stuff is ok, but when it comes to all of this computerized stuff I'm still in school. So that brings me to my point, on a Honda forum someone had talked about adding extra ground wires stating that it cleans the signals up for all the communication that is going on. Even stated that the stereo sounded better & thought the throttle response was improved. So has anyone here tried or have head of that. Just another chapter in the book. Still learning. ?

I am quite sure the engineers specified adequate grounds.

It would possibly make sense if you were building a rod, or adding a lot of misc devices (lights, stereos, etc.) but in a new vehicle of the lot, it doesn’t sound right.

The national electrical code requires circuits and systems to be connected to the earth in many instances. It is referred to as Grounding. Since the earth does not come with grounding terminals, the code lists several methods to accomplish this. I am sure a bag of dirt is not one of them. That is an innovative interpretation of the concept. And it is a riot.
You going to start selling those?
I believe you may have stumbled upon a best seller.
Easier than driving a copper rod 8 feet into the ground or connecting to a water pipe.

Plus your local Electrical inspector needs a good laugh sometimes.

He was useing open bolt holes on engine, transmission, to existing holes in body panels or ground locations.
Yeah, all he is doing is making his vehicle weigh more.

I'm not an electronics genius either. I looked up the phenomenon and what was interesting to me is I found tons of threads across forums from pretty much all marques; BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, etc. But what struck me is that most of these conversations took place in the early 2000's. Admit I didn't read every single thread but I skimmed the first few pages of them and then the last few pages of them and all of the guys that did it swore it made a difference to their vehicle but seemed to have a hard time convincing the masses to take the leap. I couldn't find any threads from anybody like "You must do this to your car to change the performance!" and 100's of guys singing the praises like you do with some mods. (Intake deletes or whatever.)

This is one of those interesting cases where you've got a lot of variables at play and nobody seemingly willing to hook two vehicles up to measuring devices and prove their point. Butt dynos are great and all but we need to be open and honest about bias when marketing our own decisions. It's much more rare for someone to invent something and then come back to say "eh, it was no good, I'm back to the drawing board." Most products being developed are doing so with the intent to go to market.

I couldn't help but notice quite a few aftermarket grounding kits for sale in those forum threads from the early aughts.

I used to be into audio gear before I came to my senses. Hard core audiophiles (not me!) spend a fortune on speaker and power cables that connects the equipment. For example, the attached link is for a company that sells power cords ranging from $60 to over $6000. There are many companies selling such products.

https://www.transparentcable.com/collections/power-power-cords

Each of these cords do the exact same thing, i.e. they simply carry power from the wall to the equipment. Some swear the expensive cords transform the gear to another level and others say it makes zero difference. I think this grounding theory is the same thing. Some folks want it to be true and hear what they want to hear without any real objective evidence.

In the car audio world, the Big 3 wiring upgrade is well known and thoroughly discussed. The results vary. ā€œUpgradeā€ to a poorly performing vehicle may show results in a more demanding audio system.
Now in a newer, well maintained vehicle with a small audio upgrade may yield no improvement.

I’ve never recommended it, nor have I actually done it. Lots have. ??ā€ā™‚

Maybe in the same realm of those gold-plated HDMI cables which allow those zeros and ones to flow through faster…

I believe this was a ricer mod back in the day. Grounding kits just started popping up everywhere. The Honda guys believe their injen intake made a difference too.

New modern vehicles do not have an issue unless the manufacturer made a huge mistake. Now if you vehicle is old like my 1993 Pathfinder then it is a great idea to clean up all the grounds as it will help all the electrical components. Even when adding elections to a vehicle you want to do everything you can to keep good clean grounds.
