Starting the planning and prep now. This time a buddy of mine will join me. He‘s driving up from Florida for this one.

The first pic has the clues on where we’re headed with the fly rods and camping gear. I’ll be using the new topper and buddy will use a tent. It’ll be first attempt for spending a week camping in the new set up. I did buy a Coleman pop up Mosquito tent as back up in case the black flies and/or skeeters are bad.

I think I’m going to get a Kelly Backroads shelter/awning to extend the living space beyond the tailgate (Hopefully we won’t need the mosquito tent). This trip should end up around 2500-2750 miles, half of the last one. Updates coming. Probably heading out around 6 Septimber.

well, my guess is Michigan (UP) to fish, and possibly Wisconsin and Minnesota. Good luck and post fish pics, and avoid those mosquitos.
Spot on. Camping/fishing on the Fox and Two Hearted Rivers pursuing Brookies and amazing weather…

I thought you were just gonna pitch the screen tent in your back yard, get drunk, smokie cigar's, read Hemingway, and find a bear to catch fish for you.....

Getting my camping set up dialed in. Bought a Kelty Backroads Shelter/Awning to use in conjunction with my topper. Going to give me living space, shade and weather protection. Set up was easy by myself. Can stake out rolled up sides for more rain protection or shade. Will have to do a local trip to check it out. So far I like it a lot.

Ok, heading out Wednesday for 7-10 day trip. Have the gear loaded (buddy gets here Tuesday and will have to get his tuff stored. Took the back seat cushions out so i've got the flat panels to stack other gear on and more room.

Checked the weather in the UP and temps with highs in lo-mid 60s with lows in upper 40s. Should be perfect camping/fishing weather. get to try out the new topper sleeping set-up and the Kelty Awning.

New 1.75 of Maker's mark and new shipment of stogeys ready to go! :like:

Sounds like a great time ahead. You’ll be a full-on Yooper by the time you‘re ready to leave.

This is the utility that only a SuperCab delivers whether it’s a work truck or used for adventures, it’s perfect. Have a great time, stay safe, and enjoy that fresh caught, pan-fried breakfast.

With the Hemmingway book I would have thought Key West but I guess not. Bells makes good beers. A great friend of mine turned me on to there beers. He knows the original owner/brew master. My friend is from Ohio but went to school in Michigan and met the original owner then and became good friends. Bells sold out to some larger brewer. :frown: Have a great trip!

Made it to Mackinac City first night on Wednesday. About 800 miles of misery. Had a 14 hour migraine that about killed me. Got to the Fox River and set up camp this afternoon and caught a couple brookies. High was 57 today! Great trip minus the headache. I asked my buddy to put a bullet in me. Rat bastard wouldn’t do it.

Enjoy your time in God's Country! You may want to check out Tahquamenon Falls. Make sure to get a few pasties while you are there. My dad really likes Upper Hand beers when my parents summer in the U.P. to escape the Texas heat.

Heading to the falls now. Might camp there tonight and fish the River below the lower falls.

On this trip I have learned I need to lower my bed platform about three inches to be able to sit up comfortably when in the shell.
