Remember that this is the place where Ranger owners come to whine; a group that is over represented here; while the majority us are doing fine. The Ranger is a fine truck; listen to your wife and enjoy it without worry.
Yeah! What he said...what a bunch of whiners...we used to pay to have our trannies slam into next gear just so we can squawk the tires...

Question, if you get the tranny flushed does everyone change the filter with it or just fluids. Second guessing myself. Just had a flush and change of fluid recently.

There's nothing wrong with just changing the fluid. The filter should be plenty good for 60-90k. Fresh fluid is more important.

I recently purchase a 2020 4x4 Ranger with 51K miles. It was very well maintained by it's original owner and I have every maintenance receipt from day one. All maintenance was done by the dealer where it was purchased, even the little stuff like windshield wiper blades, lol (it was owned by a gentleman in his late 70s). I'm an old dude at 65 and this is the first Ford product I've owned since high school. I really like this truck, but after joining the forum here and also a Ranger Facebook group, I am seeing many owners reporting issues with the transmissions. Now mine seems fine at the moment, but after seeing all the talk of owners with serious transmission issues, my question is, did I buy a ticking time bomb?
My wife knows I'm worried about the trans going out soon, although it seems fine now, and told me to quit worrying about it.. For the folks that bother to read all my ramblings here, what percentage of trucks would yall say have a serious transmission issue??? 1 out of 10, 5 out of 10, 8 out of 10, etc...
Thanks in advance!

Mine let go at 59400 miles. Was replaced under power train warranty and pretty much destroyed by the dealer to where it's not safe to drive now. Dealer, Auto Nation Ford, left off parts, cabin filled with smoke and loud engine noise now. Also refused to turn in paperwork so I could get reimbursed for partial rental car under extended warranty. Now I have to take to another dealer and pay $1000 bucks for rental car and $200 deductible on extended warranty since it's past the power train. I am going to sue both Auto nation and Ford but it will take a while to get my money back. You would not believe the phone calls I have recorded with them. Their conduct is unreal until you hear it. Garage kept, well maintained and drove normally. Looks like knew inside and out except mechanically is very unstable now and salvage value as no one would buy it. I have a 2020 4x4 Lariet built in December 2020.

Has a survey been done to see if the Ford ranger with the MBS(mikes build shop) Extended transmission dipstick have the transmission issues verses those with not? It’s a closed system and wondering if the dipstick allows air into the system and thus?

The 10R80 transmission is vented and not a closed system.

My 2021 just turned 150,000 miles and only issue so far was a driveshaft center support bearing. Keep the maintenance up and drive it.
