What warranty do you have that requires the dealer change the oil to "keep the warranty valid"?
From what I understand about most warranties if one of the stipulations is
"you must have the dealer perform this or that to keep the warranty valid", then they have to cover that cost...unless it is specifically stated in the warranty that you have to pay for a mandated service to keep it valid.
As far as Ford ESP, as long as you keep records of what you have done, and have receipts, doing oil/filter changes yourself does not void anything.
It's a third party lifetime powertrain that was included when I purchased the truck.

A local deal, Giles Audi/Volvo/Nissan/Hyundai has an in-house Lifetime Power Train warranty with the stipulation that ALL maintenance and repairs be done at one of their facilities. There is no extra charge for this warranty, and it's covered by the dealer, not the manufacturer. OEM warranty still applies to all other items.
Now, you can take it anywhere for maintenance and repairs, but they won't honor their Lifetime Power Train warranty, but OEM warranty will be honored.

that would make sense. a fair number of dealerships offer special stuff like that. sometimes rolled into the price of the vehicle. sometimes an extra cost.

my wife paid for "lifetime tire replacements" from a subaru dealership. she got 1 set of replacement tires on that car before we moved several hundred miles away, and that was enough to break even on the cost. I told her when she needed a 2nd set of tires that we should take a road trip and combine it with a new set of tires so we could come out ahead on that. she was unenthused to take that road trip and sit in a dealership. :p

I was skeptical about it but I recently found chunks of a bearing when changing my differential oil. My truck is at the dealership now getting the whole rear end replaced for the $100 deductible. I thought I was going to have to fight them on it but it went smoothly, no issues with them trying not to cover it.

that's good. I ended up paying for an extended warranty. it paid for my HVAC distribution box, which means I'm already ahead on the cost of that extended warranty.

I've always changed mine at or around 5,000 miles with full synthetic. Some say it's a waste of money but it's cheap insurance and good piece of mind.
Agree 100%
Good video I watched today.

I always change my oil/filter every 5K personally on my Ranger.
very good video.

I have a 2021
50% or 5K...and flush every 20K...if you drive that much... ?

I have a 2021 that I bought new in January of 21 and it is getting ready to turn 148,000 so she doesn’t sit much. It had 7 miles on it when I drove off the lot. It goes in every 5000 miles to get whatever it needs. The only reason I ever open the hood is to add washer solvent. I’ve had ZERO issues with it so far and am very happy with it….
