IIRC the new loaded Lightning with the extended batteries is $85K. Of course that’s before dealer markups so $91K sounds about right for this one.

Sad thing is I didn’t pay much more for my house than that. It was a short sale and in 10 years its appreciated to more than 4x’s that amount.

I built my house myself in 2013 for 50,000. I complain that my truck shouldn't cost almost as much as my house, let alone more, all the time. Lol

$91k is steep, but like everything else, prices always go up over time. Y'alls low house prices sound as crazy to me as a $91k truck probably sounds to you. Closed last year on our first house, $330k. ? And there was nothing in the general area below that that didn't need a lot of work.
Hoping the 6g ranger prices stay reasonable or unless my salary gets a comparable bump this year I'll be priced out of them too.
Everything goes up, not saying it's right, but that's the way it is now.

One of my friends, just told me this afternoon, that his F150 Platinum would be delivered tomorrow. Now get this... It is a used 2021 (Ford program vehicle actually), with 3,100 miles on it. And he paid... $91,949!

I’m just a single guy who lives in a nice little 2 bedroom 1 bath 1,200 sq. ft. home that I paid $100,000 for in 2010. I guess you could live in the truck.

I also live in an old mountain mining town. Everything is small here from the streets to the parking spaces. To be honest even if I could afford a SuperDuty I’d rather have a Ranger. It’s so much more convenient around my town. Even an F-150 is a pain in the ass here.

Expense is one thing, unnessecary expense is another. If you haul a big trailer or a heavy payload a lot of miles, a luxury super duty makes sense, even at $91k. However, driving empty 150 miles a day for work doesn't seem like F-350 territory. Have an occasional need to haul a 5th wheel? Maybe a used base F-350 makes sense. A local dealer has a '19 F-350 with 70k on it for $43k right now. You could buy that and a brand new Maverick to commute in, and still be under $91k. It is his money and he can do what he wants, but that doesn't mean it isn't stupid.

How about this absurdity? As a car designer, I admire the beauty of the work involved...but $18M?!?! Who in their right mind would drive this on a public road...well I guess a Saudi prince can have a private highway just for the occasion...

Well I’m not an expert in this but according to the gov’t coal is not the dominant fuel used to generate electricity. It’s been shrinking for decades and has been overtaken by natural gas. Still fossil fuel but much, much cleaner. Your point still valid that it’s fossil fuel but take a look at the link, 40% of electricity is now generated either by nuclear power or some renewable. Times are changing.

interesting, but it doesn’t change the point that we still won’t have enough electricity as pointed out by Elon and the CEO of Toyota for everyone has an EV. Also, you don’t need an ev to run on natural gas. There is a natural gas only gas station near My house.

This is true as long as an Individual doesn't live in the salt belt. Diesels rot out just as quickly as their gas counterparts.

I keep thinking that we have to be to the tipping point where people won't pay these ridiculous prices, but nope. I felt like crap paying 34K for my ranger.......

People have been saying that for decades about everything. And even more now with inflation at 8.5%
In 1983, my dad bought a new F150 for $8200, bitched about the high prices for days.

JFC $91k is insane. Dealer must have been happy when he walked away after signing the papers.

I don't mean this to be rude, but do you suspect the guy with the handicap sticker will take it off road at all? Figured since its a Tremor that's where it shines. Suppose it depends on what the handicap of the owner is, but still. That said it seems like an oxymoron, but hey I don't have $91k to dump on a truck and it's a free world...

My guess is that 75% of 4x4 owners never use 4x4 or even take it off road.

75% is a little high, and you don't need to go off road to use 4x4.

This is true. I live in snow country and use 4x4 often on roads in the winter.
