Strange because I've always been given a choice here and back in MA. There's some differences and this article shows the difference between OEM and aftermarket glass.

the tint color, durability, and thickness can be different; only the shape and size are identical to OEM windshields.

As you navigate the Safelite website there will be on one if the pages an option for the OEM Ranger windshield or a comparable but less expensive replacement. Gotta read those pages completely and carefully.

Excellent I got OEM without asking.

I have full replacement windshield on my vehicles with a $50 copay. $0 just to fix the crack.
however NH is Cracking down on cracks in windshields and failing inspections because of them. even repaired cracks. if the inspector sees it it fails.

no where in safelite documents does it specifiy type just $600 for windshield and $400 for labor. and I owe $50 considering they brought a windshield to my work and installed it there. $400 isn't bad.

arranged for it over the phone, When to the first appointment early they told me it had to be replaced for inspection and scheduled it 3 days later. I didn't get a preview of abill or materials until he showed up with the windshield.

Here in AZ when I get safelite to replace they always ask if I want OEM. Always. That box is not pre checked by any means.

I've never used the website or the app but they've always asked me what I wanted. We both have the same insurance (Travelers) and when you call for a glass repair they're kind of affiliated with Safelite. You can use any company but I've always had great luck and service with them. Mine (I'm sure yours is too) is 0 deductible for cracks and full replacement and as you know it's not IF you're going to need it it's when.

I've been checking Copart daily to see if MP1 was there and today it was. Sad to see it looking like this, 4 years of hard work down the drain. But if anyone needs a transmission it still has 62,636 miles until it explodes!?

So in memory of MP1 I'm changing my avatar back to it's original one. I'll hopefully be able to get some good pics soon while on vacation to add MP2 there soon.

I was sweating my first inspection two months ago when I got that rock chip. I DIY'ed it and it came out great BUT you can still see some of the edge of the repair epoxy.

I may, or may not, have strategically placed bird poop as extra inspection insurance.

I'm also in NH, so thanks for the "cracking down" info. =p
