Please post/share what you do with "spacing".

Yes, the stock skid not beefy enough. It helps to a point, but caves quickly under pressure.

I do have an aftermarket front skid (I don't recall the brand - received from a good friend). It is holding up great.
So far I've 3d printed a couple cubes about 15mm thick that moves the skid down just enough to offer a little overlap. I'm also looking at getting a second skid plate to create a sandwich of sorts... maybe add a 3rd one, who knows?

I've seen a bunch of aftermarket ones and I just plain didn't like them, maybe I'm too attached to the air dam.

I ordered a skid off eBay that was aftermarket similar to the stock skid. I found that it's a little thicker steel and a little bigger in all directions that matter. Sandwiching the two will be possible with the aftermarket towards the ground. A little bit of persuasion may be needed so they sit flat together but it's doable. Here's a link to the skid if anyone is interested.

My plan is to also make some spacers up so that bottom of the lower control arm has some protection. Petg has a compressive strength of around 4400psi, lower than steel but the plates should bend before the spacers give up. It's a gamble I'm willing to take at the moment. I'll post up more details when I've gotten more time to fuss with it.

I did happen to catch a boulder with with driver side front tire. Now I need to replace the intermediate steering shaft. Small boulder won that day!

Funny you mention that, I got the aluminum ones from them back in April and have performed well. I don't take too many hits on the underside but it's way better to be safe then sorry. The issue I'm having now is with departure angle and trying not to rip the entire bumper off.

I went with their steel reinforced skids. Don’t really do a lot of wheeling, but I got them for piece of mind. I did have to notch out the engine skid because of the diff drop kit.
