Price the important stuff with items that don’t say “king” on them :)

Agreed in principal, but let's be realistic.

Depends on what you mean by "do Moab."

A Ranger with $3k worth of mods is not getting through Mickeys Hottub. Even if it's dry.

If you mean comfortably access most of the park for camping and biking, sure.

Doesn't sound like OP wants to be able to simply access most of Moab for biking and camping. Sounds like he wants a crawler.

Trying to build a 5g into a crawler is a waste of time and money for most. Our member doing the SAS on the salvage titled one is the one exception. If a person wants a Ranger crawler they would be better off starting with a 3g to hack up.
Correct, I'm thinking about hitting Cliffhanger and Pritchett Canyon in Moab, and perhaps later the Rubicon in California.
In Moab you always see Tacomas and since in my opinion the Ranger is better than the Tacoma that's why I thought to myself, why not make a Ranger into a rock crawler if the Tacoma can do it?

Interesting that he would choose 18" wheels. I thought 16" or 17" tops, otherwise you won't have enough sidewall.

It can be done somewhat. But Tacos have the benefit of much better aftermarket support. Their biggest limitation is the IFS. Same as us. If you wanna a crawler, it should have solid axles front and rear

Instead of spending $10k trying to build your nice, newish, comfortable truck into a "rock crawler" why not buy/build a real trail rig. And keep your truck nice.

If you do long travel such as the bajakits one with new fenders you can run 35s up front. Then for the rear just use blocks or ome springs. Neither one is great compared to a longer leafpack which from what I understand can't be installed. That'll get you on 35s. After that you just need good steel skids, sliders and bumpers. I run 33s and steel skids and sliders and guarantee I could run some (not all) trails at Moab. I'm good for a 6/10 difficulty trail here in CO but my skids and sliders definitely see use lol.

33" tires. King shocks. (Just leveled in the front.) APG/Deaver HD leaf springs. The rest you can see. But one of the best mods is the bumper... So much clearance; no scraping on all the spots you see marks on the trail. Has limits for sure but goes pretty far.

My recommendation for light crawling:
Good tires.
Good shocks.
Skid plates.
Rock rails- but still haven't really used them.
High clearance bumper!

Lift it too high and you will just roll it later.

Good luck on your build, have fun and stay safe. Know your (truck) limits.. although when you surpass it you will know....

See snow pic attached. Didn't realize how deep the snow was (1.5') and was ice packed. 2 hours to dig truck out with wife and kids in the middle of nowhere and had to hot dog it back out the way we came to do plan B. I know how to drive in the snow but the truck, diff, everything was high centered. Give and take of speed and going off the edge into deeper snow. Was flooring it on the way back though to not get stuck.

A the 0:24 Mark - "The first thing I do on all of my builds is wheels and tires..."

Really? What backspacing does a Power Wheels normally run?

I'm trying to get a 6" or more lift, do you have any recommendations? The only lift kits this size that I've found all use loft blocks.
Look at BDS men has a 6 inch lift with fox coil overs and fox shocks you need also for a smooth ride
