True, I think the battery life was at least 7 years. Also, it has a way of letting you know it's getting low.But you do have to worry about dead battery on the pad. There's always a downside.

I guess there's no reason to carry a fob using your method. lol ?A tad bit Draconian, but always works; as long as the battery is good...
Actually, the Keyless fob, pushbutton start was something I didn't want anyway. With the keypad, the only time I don't leave the key in the truck is when I get home. So convenient.
Agreed, after over 5 years with it on my car I would liked it on the Ranger. But no Lariat in my area with the color and other options I wanted so XLT it is. Maybe it can be added later, LOL.Funny how everyone's different because that's a feature I want. It's just convenient (for me) putting the fob in my pocket and never having to take it out. I just wish it wasn't like a boat anchor weighing your pants down. lol
IIRC someone looked into doing this and it either couldn't be done or was going to be a big PITA to do.Agreed, after over 5 years with it on my car I would liked it on the Ranger. But no Lariat in my area with the color and other options I wanted so XLT it is. Maybe it can be added later, LOL.
I would not doubt if it requiring new door modules, door handles, likely some sub harnesses and BCM programming or even a new BCM or such. I know when looking into the rear fog light for the RS we found just putting the Euro light switch in the dash gets the cluster to show the rear fog indicator but the pins that should output the power to the rear fog from the BCM do not work. I've not had time myself to look into it more. But right now it looks like the Euro BCM would be needed, or maybe some missing internal likely non-serviceable part added to the US BCM. And would still need to run the wire from the BCM to the plug behind the right rear tire and get the Euro rear bumper harness for it to work. I was really hoping we found a way to get that working as I was thinking of getting a 2" receiver cap with an integrated fog light for the car after putting the receiver on it. I still think we could do it, but it would be much less OEM than if the BCM output that power as the electrical manual shows it to.IIRC someone looked into doing this and it either couldn't be done or was going to be a big PITA to do.
What I hate is now if I get in a rental car that doesn't have the push start it takes my brain a second to process what to do. lol
It'll buff out...I guess there's no reason to carry a fob using your method. lol ?
First world problems. lolI still have that problem the Ranger still. I use the key fob to open the door ( I often use the key fob with the RS too since the kid normally ran to the car so he could get in before I reached the door handle for for the global window down to expel the heat), then I put the key back in my pocket, get in the truck and realize I need the key still.
Jaguar-Land Rover has a waterproof "Activity Key" available at extra cost that you wear like a watch. The Ford Pass app can now be downloaded to a smartwatch, but I don't know if you can lock the IA fob in the vehicle through the app; you can with the keyless entry pad.Funny how everyone's different because that's a feature I want. It's just convenient (for me) putting the fob in my pocket and never having to take it out. I just wish it wasn't like a boat anchor weighing your pants down. lol
Yeah, I don't want anything extra in my pockets. Especially if I'm out running.I just wish it wasn't like a boat anchor weighing your pants down. lol
My keys are a lot lighter than my phone. I guess it’s a generational thing, but there’s no way I’m relying upon a phone app to access my truck.Yeah, I don't want anything extra in my pockets. Especially if I'm out running.
Me either, I tried it several times before I got the keypad and saw how risky it was. Now I just used the app as a backup, if I hit my head and forget the code or, somebody rips it off the door!My keys are a lot lighter than my phone. I never carried 1 until 3 coyotes were following me on the trail. funny how heavy a 1911 gets after 5 miles. then my knees got too bad to run and it is moot. They heaviest thing I have to worry about is my little "running" pistol.
Is it possible to add that. I would much rather have the button pad. That's why I got one of these. Never have to take my key and never have to worry about cell signal.
