No, it was a little breezy so it got a blow dry. Clean engines are much easier to work on.
And I know some are squeamish about getting the engine wet but I've been doing that forever. I'm not using a pressure washer or even full pressure out of the tap, not soaking it, just a shower to rinse the dust and splattered mud. Only cars I ever had issues with were when they had old plug wires and that was resolved with wd40. :like:

I rinse my engine as well. I like using the Master Blaster so I won't see water spots.

And yes...I'm careful on how I use it to dry the engine.

I posted this earlier, but mine was built in March of '21 and they're aluminum. Did it start in April?
Sorry I missed your post. If yours was built in March of ā€˜21 and another poster says his are steel built in late April ā€˜21 that means Ford probably decided to play an April Fools’ joke with the fenders and they weren’t joking!

I’m adding hood struts to mine so I’ll have dual hood support capability. Just in case. But for the right price I’ll let the prop rod go
I’m sticking with the prop rod so I can be the cool kid and tell people to stick my rod you know where if they piss me off. (Just kidding…. Please don’t ban me mods):crackup:

I heard the Tremor’s hood rod is painted red to match the nostrils.

As a sign of revolt!
Yes! My first car in high school was a 1993 Tempo. It had a prop rod for the hood. If a prop rod was good enough for the Tampon (what my buddies called my car) it’s good enough for my new $45k Tremor.?

My 2020 Lariat seats don't have the embossed RANGER thingie on the seats either. My kiddo's 2019 does. I'm fine with that. I have all the other shit.

Weren't front tow hooks deleted on the 4x2?
Yes, missed that one...They were deleted on XLT & Lariat non FX2 4x2 models in 2021. XL never had them on 4x2 as far as I know. I'll update the list!

My '21 Lariat has the glove compartment light. You're spreadsheet shows them being removed in '20 some time?
Typo, thanks for the input. I believe it was removed in MY22.

Updated list attached.

So I sort of found out the deal on the steel fenders. Earlier 2021s are still aluminum and once Ford ran out of them in the Spring of 2021 they switched over to steel. The weight difference is very minimal like a few pounds at most. The big difference and likely cost savings besides the material is Ford is stamping the steel fenders in house. The aluminum fenders were being purchased from a supplier. Anyhow that's the deal on the front fenders.

Here is one more delete for 2022. This might be a positive depending on your gauge cluster preference.

(2) 4.2" productivity screens instrument cluster replaced with (1) 4.2" productivity screen instrument cluster in Lariat 500A.

So basically they gave the 500A package the XLT cluster.

Now you see why I am so doubtful that all digital gauges across the line are coming with the 6G in North America like they are overseas.

Regarding all of the ā€œdefeaturedā€ aluminum parts. We are/were on the verge of a global aluminum shortage, prompted by a world magnesium shortage out of China, so I suspect switching away from aluminum to steel where possible was a supply chain risk management decision. It was thought the disruption could bget so bad that it shut down most vehicle manufacturers due to lack of parts.

also, some of the other ā€œdefeaturesā€ like hood struts are probably due to shortages rather than cost saving. This is evident in the challenges buying struts in the retail market also.
R
Regarding the hood prop, does anyone know if the lower trims came with props originally, and they just expanded that to the full lineup? I doubt the made a new part the the hood prop and cowl specifically.

Well if that's the case how are they still putting aluminum hoods and tailgates on them? Or better yet how are they putting any body panels at all on the F-Series or Expedition?

It's a very minor change and done to cut costs by using cheaper material and the fact Ford can now stamp them in-house, but it's still a feature delete that removes value from the vehicle. If Ford can't find enough aluminum for a couple small front fenders they are going to be having major problems producing those all aluminum products soon.

Regarding prop rods. All models had struts before 2022. The 2022 has a re-designed upper radiator support panel to hold the rod.

I guess I don't get what the big deal is with switching to the steel fenders? You do realize that aluminium corrodes, just in different ways. Once you get a chip, over time it'll start jacking the paint off. There's so much other steel that'll rust that the fenders aren't a big deal. If you're in a corrosive region, look into getting it Fluid Filmed.
