Hi Matt,

The adaptive learning is always read to learn when it senses a parameter change, but does stop learning and adjusting until it checks and sees something outside its parameter range. If it was just a break-in period, once completed it and stored in the ECM, then if you had to have a trans swap for example...It would not relearn the new transmission unless the ECM zeroed out. I agree with you that it refines the transmission based on the transmission parameters but not on driving style.

Hi Phil,
Just an FYI on this issue which I posted on this thread. I have 6968 on the odometer now and the problem has somehow corrected itself in time. The transmission is now shifting normally and smoothly...very happy with the result. Thanks for all your input and helpful advice with this!

I experienced this exact same issue when the Ranger was new. Took it to the Dealer and the Transmission guy said it was working properly. Another member on this forum was having this problem and said it would correct itself. For some reason which I can't explain, it smoothed out in time and is shifting properly now. I was frustrated with this too...hope you get the resolution also! :)

I had the TSB work done for the cold start harsh shifting problem also (at 10k mikes) and it seemed to help with the sticking 1st gear on acceleration. Not immediately, but after a few days of driving. The dealer said if it keeps doing it then they next step would be to replace the valve body in the transmission.

Same here, this is my first one with all this high tech stuff too. There was a TSB but that was right when they came out but you should see it smoothen out after a few more miles. If you get on it a little harder it will skip right over 2nd gear. Coming from a '16 Tacoma anything would've been better, even this. lol

It's for when it won't come out of park with your foot on the brake, read the page before it helps explain it, hey, that's what I had to do, I thought the same thing, "what does the white lever do?'
