Here's a start:
  • 183mph, Sail plane (bit over the max structural speed on the label... ups)
  • 150mph, Chevrolet Corvette
  • 120mph, Toyota Corolla -96 (max engine output for 70 miles)
  • 120mph, One of those sissy touring bikes on autobahn. Thought I choke to death due to wind going over the windshield pulling up the helmet. Few days later crashed and spend week in hospital while they stitched me up with bolt, nails and titanium plates
  • 100mph, Many other cars
  • 90mph, Go-cart
  • 80mph, Modified Suzuki PV
  • 56mph, Ford Ranger
  • 37mph, Field Tractor (max speed 25mph, overdrive with self propelled trailer + neutral)
  • 36mph, Bicycle (downhill)
Now I'm old and wiser.

No long explanations are necessary, but honesty is key. So hit away!

For me, it was 167 MPH in a modified Merkur. Speed checked with B&L SpeedGun.
Dude!! The Merkur XR4Ti is literally my favorite car of All time! 135 in that car for me, 115 in my 2006 F-150 and 110 in my Ranger.

I once did 130 in my mom's 1992 Mitsubishi Expo. I was a teenager and driving down the big hill on I-64 heading towards the Kentucky River. I'm surprised it didn't have a speed limiter. My first vehicle was a 99 GMC Sonoma and it was limited to 93 ish. I hit it numerous times. Since I've gotten older, I haven't driven faster than 90. I was a passenger in an M3 in Germany that hit 260kph (160 ish). We weren't on the Autobahn, so it was scary.

I have done 38 on my road bike. Also down a pretty big hill. The pedals can't catch the paws at that speed, so even if I were some cycling god, I could go that fast on flat ground.

Man, this thread went from "how fast in your Ranger" to "how fast in a General Dynamics F16 Fighting Falcon"

Bob420AF: "Yeah I hit nine g's and went over Mach 2"

 just teasing y'all, it's cool to see your speeds in other things. Did you feel like life was at the palms of your hands when you went 150 in the Corvette? I hit 145mph in a Stingray a couple years back. I stopped there because I felt like death was at the doorstep. ?

EDIT: JUST NOTICED THERE ARE TWO THREADS WITH SIMILAR NAMES, IM A DOOFUS BURGER :computerrage: :giggle:

Oh yes, Merkurs can be fun, especially when you install a dual-cam Volvo head, and raise the boost to 26 pounds while using 105 octane purple!

I've looked back on that experience a few times, wondering why I spent the monies I did. But here I am, 35+ years later, having planted about five large under the hood of a 2019 Ranger! The truth is, I get just as much fun out of riding my Fat Tire, E-scooter, at a whopping 25 MPH!

Tons of 160+mph pulls in my 900whp Mitsubishi Evo 8, 190+mph on a modded Kawasaki ZX14, 138mph in my turbocharged 750whp GMC Sierra (on 35" Duratracs!), 148mph in my Dodge Durango SRT. Everyone other vehicle I've had has been on its speed limiter.

While still on the ground?

A bit over 200mph, but that was on a bullet train in Germany :p .

I saw an indicated 140+ in my old Rx7 Turbo and it was still pulling hard.

Edit: Just looked the title and I wasn't driving the bullet train, though there was a room in the front where the driver was behind a glass wall and you felt like you were driving!

Somewhere around 108 on a highway in my 348 cid Impala several years after graduation from HS . The scariest event in the Impala was 100 on No. 2nd St. (not a highway, freeway or interstate) in the city of ABQ going to a party at the river. Didn't think about the danger at those speeds. Never again, I cringe to think about it :frown:

The highest speed ever clocked under normal driving conditions was a Porsche on the autobahn at 236 mph!

On the ground about 100 MPH on the Autobahn for several miles in a 1986 Mitsubishi Lancer. In the air I got a back seat ride in an F-15 and got to take the stick for a small left turn. So much, much faster than the Lancer. :)

Ranger - 118 mph or so. I have a tune and governor turned off. Not sure how fast it will top out at.
Hellcat Charger a bit faster and it had plenty of juice left. I have no doubt the advertised top speed of 196 is attainable.
166 2017 GT350.
172 2019 GT500.

1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 @171 radar from State Police. ? The story goes as this. Was on 95N and got pulled over. Asked why and officer said he hadn’t seen one yet and wanted to see it up close. Asked if I would pop the hood so he could take a look. Mind you this is on the side of a highway with his lights on. So I obliged and pointed out the setup. He then says can we see what it will do? I’m like seriously, is this a setup? Really??? He answers just up the road is RT295. Got my partner about 2 miles down the road, I’ll follow you. I want to see if I can keep up and he will radar you for your top end. I’m shaking my head but…. To good to be true! Well that’s how it went down. We talked some more afterwards, ya, he couldn’t keep up!
