I may need your help @Doc My wife was diagnosed with heart failure a few months ago and there is nothing they can do for her other than a transplant. When we were teenagers she was diagnosed with Leukemia and she was given less than a 5% chance to survive. Well 30 years and 3 sons later her left ventricle is operating at 15 to 20 percent and they know it is from the chemotherapy she had back then. However, she has beaten so much in her life we know this is just another bump in the road and she will beat this too.
Stick with your Cardiologist, I’m sure she is on some Diuretics (IE) Lasix or HCTZ, and some drug to increase Force of Contraction (IE) Digitalis and should lose weight if she can. But by all means her Cardiologist Knows best.
Regards

@VegasP11 prayers for you and your wife.

I grew up in Hamlin, NY. After high school I worked construction until starting computer engineering at RIT. Only to discover that I couldn’t afford it so 30 years ago last week I left one of the biggest ice storms in western NY to start Air Force basic training. I got my number one job as a programmer. I spent 9.5 years enlisted, 14 year as a contractor and currently 7 as a civilian programmer. Currently trying to help military justice migrate out of the stone age and into the cloud. Oh, and with no budget to do so ... yay for us.

You may have known or heard of Dr. Donald Tysinger who helped create the Bird IPPB machine? I worked with him in my early years at the hospital. Learned alot from him. Had to do a blood gas on him once & was scared to death. :)

I haven’t heard of him but I have met Forest Bird and Jack Emerson. Kirby helped in the development of the Baby Bird which was the basis for some of our IMV systems....Small World ...

Hi Doc,

There is a Forest Bird Museum outside Sandpoint Idaho. It is not well known and you have to take back roads to find it. Quite interesting on the development of the Bird respirator and ancillary devices. Couple old Iron Lungs for comparison. Forest at that time flew his old PBY float plane in and out of his house on Lake Pend Oreille. I found some of the subtle differences in some of the machines above my understanding, but all in all...a neat place. Forest was quite the inventor!

If I can find pictures I have archived from my visit with my friend, Professor Roz Hill of UofA who has a summer place on Lake Pend Oreille, I will post them..

Started as a mover during the summers in high school to make some walking around money. After graduating, I worked as a technician/fabricator on remote operated vehicles (ROVs) at an engineering company. Our clients included law enforcement (FBI, Coast Guard, sheriff's departments), defense (Israel, NSWC) and nuclear (GE). I joined the Navy in 2009 and served 9-1/2 years as a Naval Aircrewman (Avionics) and as a "C" school instructor. I currently work as a housing case manager for homeless veterans. I work in tandem with the VA and community partners trying to find stable housing for at-risk and homeless vets. I am also using the GI-Bill to attend school full-time, and am working towards a degree in Aeronautics with a focus on aviation maintenance.
