I gotta say, I have a slew of battery powered Milwaukee tools and they seem to be well designed and built. They don't get the heavy use of other stuff, but damn are they tough. My Milwaukee push mower probably gets the most abuse, and after a couple of seasons it seems to be taking punishment very well.
I started with Dewalt battery tools and OPE. 2 years ago they started making junk with bad customer service so I started all over buying Milwaukee fuel tools and new batteries. Been working good but now have 2 - 8 Ah batteries that just died after the warranty expired. They were $200.00 each when I bought them ?. Batteries are the weak link for all of them it seems. Milwaukee definitely makes better products now but seems like they all are intertangled these days under one umbrella.

I recently replaced two gas furnaces that were 28 years old. The HVAC company said new units now last an average of 12 years based upon the data they gather. The guys doing the swap were surprised how much more heavily built my old units were.

My wife wanted a new dishwasher even though the Whirlpool that was installed in 1992 was still working okay. The new one is also a Whirlpool (like all other appliances in our house) but I don't expect it to last 32 years like the old one. Installer said it might last 6-7 years. Overall, we have had very good service from our Whirlpool appliances.
We've used Whirlpool appliances for the last 25-30 years. The only issue we had was with a gas cooktop. The ignitors went bad. We had an extended warranty through Home Depot and rather than replace the ignitors, they bought back the cooktop. We replaced it with an electric unit instead.

We will be starting a new build in a couple of months, and will again use Whirlpool appliances. But will admit that we tend to select the upper end of their offerings.

Saves energy but gets replaced every 3 years. Sounds like a stupid plan, but that is true now.

With refrigerators they are a lot more energy efficient than decades back, if you've ever replaced an older one (I did 15 yrs back) the electric bill does noticeably drop, however I have to laugh at other appliances that supposedly are more energy efficient - like a clothes dryer that has steam cycles , same with dishwashers that can run over a hour and then dry your dishes - even some washing machines have a steam function. Then I have a "more efficient" tankless heater in my home, when I moved in the previous owner had it set to constantly be pumping hot water to every faucet - no wait for hot water - but omg you pay for that convenience.

+1!!! for the Milwaukee tools! I just hope they don’t change them to save a buck at some point. I love mine!

My son is in residential construction. He favors Milwaukee. As do many of his counterparts. Though they’ve used all the brands at some point. Per he and a few of his industry buddies, Makita is the only brand that can truly give Milwaukee a run for its money.

Diswashers are funny thing.

My energy efficient home diswasher runs for 3 to 3,5 hours per cycle.

The industrial dishwasher on the rentable banquet room few blocks away takes 8 minutes per cycle, handles more dishes, does better job and with less energy.

Next house I'll just get one of those.

I saw several reviews where they were complaining their new dishwashers were running for over an hour on the quick wash cycle. Many were running them as they went to bed which I would never do just in case something (a leak) were to happen. 3 - 3.5 hours is a crazy long time to run a cycle and still call it energy efficient. lol

We have so little dishes we mostly hand wash them most days. With just the two of us it seems like we're always needing something that's in the dishwasher waiting to get washed. We have one of those handheld wands with the soap in the tube so once we rinse them after dinner it doesn't take that much longer to just wash them.

I think the main goal of high efficiency dishwashers is to save water vs. energy. The quick wash setting just uses more water so it can finish quicker.

Yeah but what the heck is it doing for 3 -3.5 hours, you're definitely using more electricity? I I guess it's save on one side or the other but I can't see it being a savings of both running it for that length of time.

They run a long time because they are washing dishes with very little water. I usually use the speed wash, which uses more water but cuts the time in half. With regard to electricity, my understanding is that dishwashers are very inexpensive to operate, even if you run them everyday.

Our dishwasher seems to get everything clean without issue. It was new with our kitchen remodel in '20. But I freakin' hate it. It's so clunky. The drawers open so awkwardly and not smooth. The rollers on the bottom drawer are super cheap and frequently pop off. You can't pull out the bottom drawer without a big drop over the gap left between the door. Then when you push it back in, you have to lift it over the gap, and the side to side slop is terrible. It's stupid!

I must have looked through hundreds of reviews for all the kitchen appliances we need. I read many stating the same thing you just described having issues with their dishwashers too. The racks wobble all around and skip over the gap and some complain there's no adjustable tines in the lower rack for different size plates & bowls. Most come with a 3rd top rack now and just about everyone says they're useless. They're only good for flat utensils because anything higher will hit the top sprayer. I was really thinking of just putting a pull out trash can or another door where the dishwasher is and use it for storage but have it all plumbed and ready for a dishwasher if needed.
