iOS 16 and CarPlay

Watching the WWDC and CarPlay is set to get a full redesign. One of the features is adjusting HVAC without leaving the CarPlay screen. Looks like it could be a really nice upgrade.

The regular release is generally in Sept. The developer (dev) beta will be released today. The public beta will be released (usually) in about a month.

I've typically taken a 'wait and see' approach before upgrading to each iOS release. I'd love to see this happen, and while I won't consider doing any beta, I'd sure consider upgrading to the full release when it's out.

Worst case scenario; I can downgrade. Software isn't scary, to me. I've got it installed on my iPhone 12 Pro. So far, no issues.


That being said; none of the CarPlay updates seem to be in this first version. I will continue to update, as things come up.

Whelp, I'm on iOS 16 (have been more or less since it was released) and I've seen no change at all in CarPlay... Anyone else noticed any difference?

I haven't noticed any changes either. I'm on the most up to date beta.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Carplay 16s new features for newer larger screen systems like Sync4?

Looks like the changes for iOS 16 are mostly incremental in nature, and pretty subtle. The hotness that was displayed at WWDC won't be available in the wild until at least the 2024 model year for *some* manufacturers... and likely will never be available on this generation of Ranger at all.

Same here. Been on iOS 16 Dev Beta for a couple month...I've seen no changes. Currently on iOS 16.2 Dev Beta.

I have not had any issues with the update. Everything has been fine.
